On this week’s A Better World Radio, Mitchell convenes a Roundtable in honor & homage to the much-loved, ‘Grand Dame of Evolutionary Thinking’ Barbara Marx Hubbard.  Beloved to many, her passing last week has many of us both saddened at her passing but grateful for her gift to us all over the course of her rich and bountiful life of thoughtfulness, pioneering creativity and service.  To share with us all are two of Barbara’s long-time and closest friends, Jean Houston and Hazel Henderson.
The three of these “dynamic powerhouses of the Feminine” formed a triumvirate that has probably never quite been matched.  It is an honor to have these two special women on, both of whom have been guests on A Better World Radio & TV several times over the years, to come together on this auspicious occasion to honor Barbara.
On A Better World TV, Mitchell speaks with award-winning author Dianne Collins on the really interesting subject of the intersection of quantum reality, physics, neuro-psychology and this phenomenon we call “thinking”, one, by the way, we take so for granted, that we ‘think’ we know what it is and how it shapes our reality.  But in today’s show, Dianne walks us through some of the important ‘perceptual points’ and frameworks we should be considering when discussing this subject.  Think holism, think systems and you’ll be beginning to approach the subject….we love Dianne at A Better World and are thrilled to be re-airing this favorite.  https://diannecollins.com/
This week’s media broadcasts are in honor of Barbara Marx Hubbard, a good friend of A Better World.

Joining Mitchell Rabin in today’s Round Table is one of AOC’s chief advisers on the GND, Robert Hockett.  Robert has been on the Cornell Law Faculty since 2004. His principal teaching, research, and writing interests lie in the fields of organizational, financial, and monetary law and economics in both their positive and normative, as well as their national and transnational, dimensions. A Fellow of the Century Foundation and regular commissioned author for the New America Foundation, Hockett also does regular consulting work for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the International Monetary Fund, Americans for Financial Reform, the ‘Occupy’ Cooperative, and a number of federal and state legislators and local governments.

smith jeffrey gmosMonday, February 25, 7pm EDT:  Mitchell’s guest this evening is Executive Director, Institute for Responsible Technology, Jeffrey M. Smith.

The leading consumer advocate promoting healthier non-GMO choices, Jeffrey Smith was named the 2017 “Person of the Year” by Masters of Health Magazine. For more than two decades, his research has exposed how biotech companies mislead policy makers and the public, and put the health of society and environment at risk.

Mr. Smith’s feature-length documentary Genetic Roulette — The Gamble of Our Lives was awarded the 2012 Movie of the Year (Solari Report) and the Transformational Film of the Year (AwareGuide). Seen by millions world-wide, the film links genetically engineered food to toxic and allergic reactions, infertility, digestive disorders, and numerous other problems that have been on the rise in the US population since genetically modified organisms (GMOs) were introduced.
His books include: Seeds of Deception, the world’s bestseller on GMOs; and Genetic Roulette: The Documented Health Risks of Genetically Engineered Foods. They expertly demonstrate why the safety assessments by the FDA and regulators worldwide are based on outdated science and false assumptions, and why genetically engineered foods must urgently become our top food safety priority.

smith jeffrey geneticroulette-smith jeffrey bookMr. Smith has lectured in 45 countries, counseled leaders from every continent, and has been quoted by thousands of news outlets including: The New York Times, Washington Post, The Times (London), Associated Press, Reuters, LA Times, and Time Magazine. He regularly appears on influential radio and television programs, including the BBC, NPR, Fox News, Democracy Now, The Doctors, and the Dr. Oz Show.

He is the founding executive director of The Institute for Responsible Technology (IRT), a leading source of GMO health risk information for consumers, policy makers, and healthcare professionals. IRT’s educational programs are driving the tipping point of consumer rejection against GMOs, which is already starting to push genetically engineered ingredients out of the market in the US.  Jeffrey has been a guest on A Better World Radio as well (http://abetterworld.tv/best-selling-author-of-seeds-of-deception-jeffrey-smith-2/) and is a friend of Mitchell’s and A Better World.

Mr. Smith resides in California, as well as in Iowa— ironically surrounded by genetically modified soybeans and corn.

Mitchell Rabin Interviews Evolutionary Economist Hazel Henderson on the Green New Deal

Monday, Jan. 7, 7pm, EST:  hazel & mitchell abw tv  Many say that the economy is doing ‘great’.  Yes, if you’re a money manager perhaps.  But not if you’re a blue-collar worker or you happen to work for the U.S. government  Not if your in the 90% of the people who are working 2-3 jobs just to stay afloat or live paycheck to paycheck.  And that’s just the surface of it.  Drilling deeper, so to speak, we see that having a fossil fuel-based economy is like sawing off the plank on which we’re standing.  So today’s discussion will be looking at “The Green New Deal” which proposes an entirely new way of envisioning our economic future, on real terra firma which also includes public banking.

To unpack this today, Mitchell’s guest this evening is environmentalist, social entrepreneur, enlightened economist, Hazel Henderson.

Hazel Henderson, D.Sc.Hon., FRSA, is founder of Ethical Markets Media, LLC (USA and Brazil), a Certified B Corporation.  She is a world renowned futurist, evolutionary economist, a worldwide syndicated columnist, and author of  award-winning Ethical Markets: Growing the Green Economy (2006) and eight other books. She created the Ethical Markets TV series in global distribution at www.films.com, the EthicMark® Awards, the Green Transition Scoreboard®and co-created Ethical Biomimicry Finance®. Her editorials are syndicated globally by Inter Press Service, and her book reviews appear on SeekingAlpha.com.  Her articles have appeared in over 250 journals, including Harvard Business Review, New York Times, Christian Science Monitor, as well as journals in Japan, Venezuela, China, France and Australia.

Since becoming a full-time media executive in 2004, Hazel has stepped down from many of her board memberships, including Calvert Social Investment Fund (1982-2005), the Social Investment Forum and the Social Venture Network.  She has been Regent’s Lecturer at the University of California-Santa Barbara, Horace Albright Chair in Conservation at the University of California-Berkeley, and advised the U.S. Office of Technology Assessment, the National Academy of Engineering and the National Science Foundation from 1974 to 1980. She remains on the International Council of the Instituto Ethos de Empresas e Responsabilidade Social, Sao Paulo, Brasil; is a fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science and the World Business Academy; and is an Honorary Member of the Club of Rome.
She shared the 1996 Global Citizen Award with Nobelist A. Perez Esquivel of Argentina. In 2007, she was elected a Fellow to Britain’s Royal Society of Arts, founded in 1754. In 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014, she was honored as a “Top 100 Thought Leader in Trustworthy Business Behavior” by Trust Across America.  In 2012, she was honored with the Reuters Award for Outstanding Contribution to Development of ESG & Investing at TBLI Europe.  In 2013, she was inducted into the International Society of Sustainability Professionals Hall of Fame. Her 2014 monograph, Mapping the Global Transition to the Solar Age, published by ICAEW and Tomorrow’s Company, UK,  is available for free download from www.ethicalmarkets.com.

Hazel is a colleague and good friend of Mitchell’s and A Better World.  She has been a guest on A Better World Radio a discussing both the building of a renewable economy and an economy based on love.  Mitchell is on the Ethical Market’s Global Advisory Board and EthMark Awards Committee.

Mitchell is on the Ethical Market’s Global Advisory Board and EthMark Awards Committee.

batmanghelidj fereydoonMonday, Jan. 7, 7pm EST:  Mitchell’s guest this evening is internationally-renowned, Iranian-born, pioneering physician, teacher and author Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj.

Author of  Your Body’s Many Cries for Water, Dr. Batmanghelidj, now deceased, created a significant stir with this book in which he claims that, with water alone, a major number of diseases can be effectively healed.  This interview with Mitchell is likely the last video footage we have of this pioneering physician.

Born in Iran in 1931, Dr. Batman was an internationally-renowned researcher, author and advocate of the natural healing power of water. He attended Fettes College in Scotland and was a graduate of St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School of London University, where he studied under Sir Alexander Fleming, who shared the Nobel Prize for the discovery of penicillin.batman water cures drugs kill book

Dr. Batmanghelidj practiced medicine in the United Kingdom before returning to Iran where he played a key role in the development of hospitals and medical centers. He also helped batman abw interviewestablish sport projects for youth in Iran, including The Ice Palace in Tehran, the first ice skating and sports complex in the Middle East.

When the Iranian Revolution broke out in 1979, Dr. Batmanghelidj was placed in the infamous Evin Prison as a political prisoner for two years and seven months. It was there he discovered the healing powers of water. One night, Dr. B. had to treat a fellow prisoner with crippling peptic ulcer pain. With no medications at his disposal, Dr. B. gave him two glasses of water. Within eight minutes, his pain disappeared. He was instructed to drink two glasses of water every three hours and became absolutely pain free for hisbatman body's many cries for water bookfour remaining months in the prison.

Dr. B. successfully treated 3,000 fellow prisoners suffering from stress-induced peptic ulcer disease with water alone. While in prison he conducted extensive research into the medicinal effects of water in preventing and relieving many painful degenerative diseases. Evin proved an ideal “stress laboratory,” and despite his being offered an earlier release, Dr. B. chose to stay an extra four months in prison to complete his research into the relationship of dehydration and bleeding peptic ulcer disease.

The report of his findings was published as the editorial of the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology in June 1983. The New York Times Science Watch reported this discovery on June 21, 1983.

On his release from prison in 1982, Dr. Batmanghelidj escaped from Iran and came to America. At the Foundation for the Simple in Medicinehe began to research the effect of chronic unintentional dehydration on the human body. His findings were published in the Foundation’s “Journal of Science in Medicine Simplified” in 1991 and 1992. They can be read on the web site www.watercure.com.

Dr. B’s message to the world is, “You are not sick, you are thirsty. Don’t treat thirst with medication.” drinking water for health

Dr. F. Batmanghelidj devoted the last 20 years of his life promoting public awareness of the healing powers of water. He appeared on hundreds of radio and television programs and lectured around the world. He has left a body of valuable works of six books and more than a dozen educational audio and video seminars.

This interview was conducted on location in Santa Barbara, CA. at The Sacred Water Conference in August, 2003, where Mitchell was invited and Dr. B. was the keynote speaker when these two became good friends. This interview is likely the last one on video before his untimely passing in the fall following the August Conference on Water.

This Week’s A Better World Media
mjr in prn studio exclaiming
In this week’s Radio show, Mitchell speaks with evolutionary economist, futurist, friend and colleague, Hazel Henderson, founder and President of Ethical Markets.  Hazel has been on A Better World Radio & TV numerous times and always has so much to share with the audience, an infinite resource.  Today’s show will focus on the recent proposal in Congress of “The Green New Deal” which would help to significantly shift our economy from being fossil fuel-based to renewably-based, and would help to build the economy not with toothpicks but on a stable, sustainable, long-term footing.  In our dialogue, we will also challenge the myth of “economic growth” and discuss a homeostatic model that does not rely on the destruction of the planet, or “ever-increasing consumption”.
On A Better World TV this week is one of the leading voices in alternatives in medicine, Dr. F. Batmanghelidj.  Mitchell was fortunate to have met and gotten friendly with Dr. Batman (as we called him) at a Sacred Water Conference held in Santa Barbara, CA. in August, 2003 that Mitchell was covering and part of through A Better World TV.  Dr. Batman’s work, had it been promoted and integrated by the NIH which he had repeatedly appealed to to review his research, we’d have a lot of people alive and healthy today.  Dr. B. was very outspoken in his views about ‘modern medicine’ as a big part of the problem in advancing health and wellness in this country, an irony few medical professionals wanted to reflect on.  Sadly, Dr. B. died way too early as his voice was a highly important one in the medical/health landscape, which is why we re-air this interview every year to keep his voice alive and presence felt.
2018: It’s Been a Bumpy Ride!  Are We Not (very) Ready for Smoother, Kinder, Smarter Sailing….?!  You Betcha!
evolution of manReflecting on this past year, from the environmental, social, economic, political justice points of view, I become nearly at a loss of words!  Of course, for every step forward, it appears to include 1-2 steps back.
My focus is on human evolution as stewards of our and other species and Gaia simultaneously. Within the larger landscape is of course the way we humans interact, communicate (or not), eco destruction garbagecooperate (or not),  play, work, fight, govern, create, make art, love, laugh, satirize and overall self-express.  To accomplish this, we look at social interaction, economics, politics, science, cultural expressions and on.  It’s crazy to think that in the 21st century in general, and in 2018-19 in particular, the problems and challenges we have today are virtually the same as we had literally thousands of years ago, but added to and rendered more complex by the advent of technologies, scientific breakthroughs, the vast accumulation of wealth in the hands of a very few relative to the population and on.  So the problems have been compounded and aggravated, not lessened and simplified, even though the advent of the computer was said to be able to save us time and create more leisure.  Instead, it has cost us more time.  We can do procedures faster, but now we’ve become inclined to just do more of them.
We are still dealing with the perennial, archetypal conflicts between the genders.  This has become more complex because the entire definition of gender has been subject to major review and alteration, as it becomes more ‘fluid’.  We are still dealing with prejudice between skin color, deeming some better and others lesser.  We have geographical prejudice we to some extent, is tethered to color.  We have prejudice and judgment in respect to money and socio-economic class, “classism”, also related to “rankism”.  We have religious rancor, judgment by followers of one religion of another even though one of the tenets of most every religion is non-judgment.  Acceptance, understanding, love, compassion, patience, integrity, no stealing, violence, murder, etc. are also tenets, yet you’ll find not just a few members of virtually every religion violating these tenets.
conflictSo the problems are many, yet we have this interesting way as a species to adapt, to cooperate, to creatively and instinctively move the ball down the field through altruistic actions, attitudes and acts of kindness and generosity which bring us to a moment of reverence, inspiration and awe.
When we behold governance around the world, we see an uptick in fear-based politics, promoting divisiveness instead of unity.  We see some of the lowest behaviors and expressions of the human spirit, not dignified ones that would be exemplars for younger generations.  In short, our grandchildren are in trouble.
So in some important ways, 2018 I’d say has been a ‘bottom’ year, from which, in 2019, we’ve slightly steadied the ship for what I feel and believe will be smoother sailing.  I believe that 2019 is the year of the implementation of solutions.  Many are technological to sequester carbon and others to vastly reduce its output, as well as the other 41 greenhouse gases.  I think that social, political and economic justice’s scales are going to be better balanced.  I think that people—and Congress—are going to be stepping up and owing their/our own power and ready to make a difference.  I think we’re about to see a much-improved world. You thoughts? Agree?  Disagree?  I’d love to hear your point of view.  Email me at: mjr@abetterworld.net.

This Week’s A Better World Media
mjr in prn studio exclaiming
In this week’s Radio show, Mitchell speaks with Jungian Astrologer, long-time friend of A Better World and Mitchell’s, Monty Taylor.  Monty is a gifted astrologer, bringing great integrity, historicity as well as archetypal purview to the profession.  We need a ‘higher view’ of the elements with which we are dealing as they are obviously thorny and pressing us into a new identity that is the restoration of integrity, justice and dignity as a human race and as a society after these have been so heavily challenged by rogue elements in high positions of power.  But when the going gets tough, as they say, the tough get going.  So, that’s what I see for 2019.  I now look forward to hearing what Monty has to say.  Is the wind to our back, or….?
On A Better World TV this week is environmentalist and evolutionary economist Hazel Henderson.  Hazel is just one of the pioneers and leaders in the environmental movement, starting in NYC in the late 1950’s and continuing to this day.  She has wisely used her knowledge of economics and finance to advance the conversation of establishing a photon-based, solar economy and one that offers the business case for keeping fossil assets underground.  Hazel is one of my mentors, good friends and heroes, so we love to highlight her work here on A Better World.
.
Has Democracy in the USA Been Kidnapped?
It does seem quite obvious, does it not?  Take a look at just a few points even prior to the Trump Administration.  Some say that it was kidnapped quite some time ago and remains in some form of quasi-democratic state.  When we review how power is distributed and utilized in the U.S. and who is subject to which laws, that is, there is the law for the elite and another for “everyone else”, any political scientist would be hard-pressed to see that we don’t have chief arvol looking horseproblems here, right here, “in River City”.
This did not at all begin with the current Trump Administration, even if it has brought our country, over the past two years, to extraordinarily new lows and violations of law.  The kidnapping of Democracy may have happened when Columbus first came to these shores and decimated the native people’s way of life with so-called “Democracy”.  Perhaps we’ve been paying a price for that first theft and scourge ever since?
Around the time of 9/11, T-shirts at Union Square Park in NYC started showing up at booths with this written across it, with an image of Native Peoples behind this:  “Fighting Terrorism Since 1492″….
But to come up to date, to restore at least some greater level of Democracy today, it seems to me that a few fundamental investigations and prosecutions would need to take place to honor the rule of law, both U.S. law and international.  There are deeper levels of restoration having to do with true, heartfelt apologies to the indigenous people of this land, to the blacks, Chinese, Japanese, Hispanics, as I asked Clinton to do when he first came to office, but that just simply isn’t ‘inbush-v-gore the cards’ for this President, so backward we have gone.
A few highlights over the past 18 years….
1.  In 2000, GW Bush stole the election.  Gore won Florida and more.  Jeb Bush colluded with the Secretary of State, suppressed votes, and more.  The Supreme Court, without jurisdiction, entered and selected a President, completely unconstitutionally and illegally, yet it was allowed to stand.  Want details?  Sure.  Go to Greg Palast’s The Best Democracy Money Can Buy.
2. The Bush-Cheney Administration blatantly lied to the American People (in effect, admitted this later) about Weapons of Mass Destruction and forged ahead with an illegal, preemptive attack and war in Iraq from which the region–nor the world–has ever recovered.  It could easily be argued that the state of the world has spiraled downward since.  A question about the legitimacy of the war in Afghanistan needs to be investigated as well. Starting a war against a whole country to reach one man (who was held guilty in no Court except for the Court of the Press) is nothing short of bizarre. We can reach back to Vietnam as well and query its legitimacy, but the primary actors there have since passed and I’d like this discussion to focus on generally more immediate concerns.
3. In 2004, Ken Blackwell, Republican Secretary of State in Ohio, even though he’s black, he’s Republican, and again colluded to suppress the vote.  The owner of the voting machine co., Diebold, declared publicly that ‘he would do anything’ to help GW win.  Apparently he did.
4. In 2011 or so, Obama signed the NDAA, an unconstitutional piece of legislation.  Chris Hedges, Noam Chomsky, et al, sued and won–that is, part of the law was stricken as a result.
5. Obama supplied the Saudi regime with weapons to fight the poorest country in Africa, perhaps in the world, Yemen.  Even if legal, it’s completely unethical.  Add that to the large pile of human bush gore popular voterights violations by a laureate of the Nobel Prize for Peace.
6. In 2016, Clinton and Wasserman-Schultz conspired to marginalize Bernie Sanders and stole the Democratic nomination from him.  Even they hadn’t done that, Bernie would have been the nominee and would have soundly beaten Trump–he was the only one, Democrat or Republican, who could stand up to this name-calling, low-life bully.  And we wouldn’t be in this mess that we’re in now.  Oh, we’d be in messes, don’t get me wrong!  But higher-level messes, I daresay!
7. Trump is completely self-interested and behind all decisions and policies are his own and family’s financial interests, e..g., Russia, Saudi Arabia, China, Indonesia, the tax theft bill, seeking to kill Obamacare, what Betsy de Voss is doing, Wilbur Ross, and on the list goes.  It’s as obvious as day.  Emoluments?
8. The election was influenced by probably several foreign nationals, Russia being prominent.  Trump did not win on his own at all.  That’s a joke!   I know the American People are disillusioned with Politics-As-Usual and with the Democratic Party in particular—for good reason!  But that’s not a reason to turn to a con man (everyone in NY knows this about him….now the rest of the country is–slowly but definitely—catching on…How about turning Green?  Jill Stein?  You betcha!
9.  Jeff Sessions lied to Congress under oath twice.  Was he prosecuted?  If a black man under suspicion for wrongdoing of any sort did that, you know what would happen?  Of course you do.
10. Trump said he’d gladly be interviewed by Mueller, 100%!  So?
10. If Trump weren’t guilty of many violations of law, why would he be so antagonistic to Mueller?  Why not welcome the investigation so to clear his name of any alleged wrongdoing? WHY?!!trump-lies
11.  Where are the tax returns?  Were they being audited in 2016?  Did anyone check?  Are they still being audited?!!  He won’t reveal them because they’ll show his real relationship with foreign nationals that he’s lied about and that he doesn’t make nearly as much as he suggests he does.  His resistance to the investigation is itself a signal of obstruction.
12. Matt Whitaker is an illegal AG.  I wonder if he’s documented?  The Deputy AG, in this case, Rosenstein, by the Constitution and legislation, is to be acting AG.  But again, this week, Barr was nominated.  Again, another a wholly-biased, political appointee.  Where does he find these guys?  Why don’t people in the DOJ believe in justice?!!!  Bias is to be toward The People, not government, not the Office of President, which is here for one reason and one reason only: to serve The People.  Why is this lost sight by our DOJ and SCOTUS so easily?  It’s bizarre and self-interested and incorrect.
This is not a political appointment yet made so by this unfit President.  Accordingly to law, Rosenstein is to have been appointed the legally proper acting AG.  Whatever Whitaker does has no legal weight.  We need a legally appointed AG!  Is this not the height of hubris of this Administration that the highest law-enforcement officer of the land is actually illegal?!  When dealing with a mobster, it’s actually perfect!  But upon dealing with a real President, not an imposter, we really should have one that legally holds the position.
How to handle appointments or elections of the DOJ right up to the Supreme Court if they are supposed to be apolitical?  We should ask, “is there such a thing?”  Relatively speaking, yes.  What the Constitution spells out I don’t think leaves enough room for justice!  The Constitution, appreciate it as much as I do and as valuable as it is in many respects, is a document in dire need of updating on many fronts.
13. Trump has been found to have lied over 6,000 times since Day 1 of his inauguration, starting with “crowd size”. He has gotten exceedingly nervous and for good reason.  I almost started to feel sorry for him, a touch of compassion, as he is being circled with really nowhere to turn.  His prior actions, karma, are biting at his heels.
This is all for for starters!  Without a legal AG, Democracy in the U.S. has been kidnapped….help!  People of conscience and moral compass must be alarmed at behavior that has been normalized.  We’ve become numbed, anesthetized because there is so much to deal with. which has been Trump’s business strategy for decades.  Hurt, insult, injure, distract, cajole, praise, pull away, and come back with another attack.  That’s the Trump M.O.  Very transparent.  And in respect to most, very effective, sick as it is.  This is what bullies do.  We need to keep ourselves clear about the daily assaults on our consciousness.
This is very important. The technique of keeping us off-center is the ‘barrage technique’.  Overload them with so much stuff they can’t remember what was last, where we are and where we’re going.  Just remember, this is a deliberate technique.  Combine that with incessant lies and the authority the Presidency is supposed to carry and you have a mess on your hands and in your mind!  That’s the whole point and purpose of the barrage technique.  it’s daily.  But once you see it in action, take a breath and watch!  One of the many problems is that the media is part of the problem–they help, by way of their reportage, perpetuate the problem instead of whole-heartedly blow the whistle on it.  Because the technique boosts ratings.  A problem!

This Week on A Better World Radio

Tune in Wednesdays 6 pm EST
Or Listen in Radio Archive anytime at  www.abetterworld.tv

nader ralphWed., May 16, 6pm EST:  Mitchell’s guest is attorney, activist and politician Ralph Nader.  Ralph is an auto-safety reformer and consumer advocate on national renown. He has run for president several times, as a candidate for the Green Party.

Born in Connecticut in 1934, Ralph Nader went on to study law and became a crusader of car-safety reform in the 1960s. In 1971 he founded the consumer advocacy group Public Citizen and has continued to be an opponent of unchecked corporate power. Beginning in the 1990s, Nader entered the U.S. presidential race multiple times, with a notable run as candidate for the Green Party in the 2000 election.

Purchase Ralph Nader’s Books here.

Nader’s testimony before the Senate also set in motion Congressional action on automobile safety, and in September 1966 President Lyndon Johnson signed into law the National Traffic and nader breaking through powerMotor Vehicle Safety Act. This law created the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees federal safety standards for automobiles and is authorized to impose recalls for unsafe vehicles. In 1967, in a throwback to Upton Sinclair, Nader also initiated a campaign that led to the passage of the 1967 Wholesome Meat Act, which imposed federal standards on slaughterhouses.

In the late 1960s and mid-1970s, Ralph Nader mobilized college students to form Public Interest Research Groups (PIRG), which aided his investigations in public policy and effective government regulation. His professional associates, sometimes referred to derisively as “Nader’s Raiders,” published reports on a wide range of subjects, including baby food, insecticides, mercury poisoning and coal-mine safety. Nader also founded the Center for Responsive Law in 1968 and Public Citizen Inc. in 1971. Idealistic and modest, he became known among his associates for his Spartan personal habits and long working hours.

nader unstoppableHowever, in the 1980s, President Ronald Reagan dismantled many of the government regulations that Nader helped establish. But while this blunted his effectiveness for a time, Nader continued his crusades to lower car-insurance rates in California, expose the dangers of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) on the ozone layer and prevent limitations on consumer lawsuit rewards. Amidst these activist efforts, Nader also wrote several more books, including The Menace of Atomic Energy (1977), Who’s Poisoning America (1981), Good Works (1981) and No Contest (1996). In 2012 and 2016, Ralph Nader declined to run again for president, but said he was looking for “enlightened billionaires” to put his support behind.

However, during his period of perpetual candidacy, he wrote scores of letters to serving presidents on campaign finance reform, the minimum wage and Supreme Court nominations. He has compiled these letters into a collection titled Return to Sender: Unanswered Letters to the President, 2001–2015. Nader claims the book sets a higher standard and tries to stimulate Americans to write letters to their representatives.

Ralph was part of the Conscious Politics Roundtable discussion on A Better World Radio in 2012 with Rep. Dennis Kucinich, Barbara Marx Hubbard (the first female VP candidate to ever run) and Rocky Anderson, when Rocky was running for President in the Justice Party.  Listen here: http://abetterworld.tv/evolutionary-politics-roundtable-dennis-kucinich-rocky-anderson-barbara-marx-hubbard/

This Week’s A Better World Media
Girl-Holding-the-Sun-Sunrise__45387-480x320

This week’s TV interview with Hazel Henderson brings forward a commonsense logic about utilizing free photons emitted by the sun in the trillions every moment to power our energy needs throughout the planet.  Hazel brings a thoughtfulness, creativity, wisdom and commitment to establishing the good ethical and economic sense behind a renewable-energy-based economy and leaving fossil fuels behind.  When we examine the dangers of fossil fuels, to the environment and equally, the way they commandeer geo-politics, one recognizes that these are poison on every level to us and our environment.  Hazel Henderson is a pioneer in helping us forge the way as she has been doing for decades.

This week’s Radio show with Ralph Nader who is a tireless leader who has been advising administrations for decades, sometimes welcomed and sometimes perceived as an irritant.  His persistence has changed policy, protected Americans on so many levels we cannot even account for all the good that has accrued from his work over decades.  If Ralph Nader would have won the Presidency, our world would be a different place.  Taxes would be fairer to all Americans, and would be spent protecting our environment, building education, infrastructure, real healthcare, not Big Pharma Care, he would have stood for and promoted peace and constructive engagement globally instead of picking fights and pursuing policies of dominance, of win-lose.  Unwilling to play political games but instead, speak truth to power, Ralph hasn’t been able to build the coalition necessary to succeed, to date, in a Presidential run.  But his life has demonstrated his values and integrity in a way that few candidates ever have.  We are very pleased to have Ralph join us again on A Better World Radio, a true American hero.
We invite you to be part of our community, committed to a healthy life-style, eco-sensitive living, kind, integrity-based and funny, full of love, compassion and well-being, committed to service to our larger human and planetary community.
