David KatzmireTuesday, February 11, 10:30pm EST: Tonight our guest will be David Katzmire.

With David, we will be continuing the theme of understanding cycles of all different sorts, and this evening, cycles as understood through Kalarhythms.

David is the brain-child behind Kalarhythms, a study of time cycles that is to nations as bio-rhythms are to the individual, analyzing them into the component parts of intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual cycles of a given country. The way these cycles criss-cross, wax and wane over time gives probabilities to the kinds of events, attitudes and values are predominant among a people at a given period of time.

David developed the theory for more than three decades to understand the Cycles of Time. Universal patterns can be found in a person, a nation and in the eras of civilization on different scales of size and time. Therein lie undulating energies of physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual cycles that are replete through our lives in wonderful fractal patterns that we can discern once we unlock the simple code. This is the theory of KalaRhythms.

David was born in Chester, Pennsylvania. Topic of conversion will be his original theory on the cycles of time and the cycles of change known as KalaRhythms which he documented at:

We will discuss the fractal relationship between a person and a nation and how each has a body, a heart and a mind that moves in rhythm. The code is simple once you know the rhythms.

David has been and is an avid supporter and friend of Mitchell and A Better World for a long time, from being the website “Elf” for A Better World to a friend and colleague.

A Better World sponsored David at the MetaCenter some years ago which was the first larger venue in which David presented his work. Mitchell was also the first to comprehensively debut David’s Kalarhythms on TV and he’s been a guest on A Better World Radio numerous times adding his wisdom to many conversations.

Marianne WilliamsonWednesday, February 12, 6pm EST: Mitchell’s first guest tonight on Radio is Marianne Williamson.

Those of you who listen to Mitchell on A Better World Radio & TV know that he is a major advocate of the “Citizen Legislator” as originally proposed by our Founding Fathers, instead of the ‘factionalist”, two-party system we have become, so severely limiting a fuller, deeper, democratic process.

Independent candidates for U.S. President all the way to Attorney General of New York State and Mayor of NYC have been guests on A Better World as a means of advocating a richer, more dignified Democratic Process.  The greatly loved and acclaimed, author and teacher, Marianne Williamson, is now stepping up to advocate independent politics and more, to participate.  She is running for U.S. Congress in CA. as we speak.

Marianne is an internationally-renowned author, lecturer and thought leader. Six of her ten published books have been New York Times Best Sellers. Four of these have been #1 New York Times Best Sellers.

In 1997, she published Healing the Soul of America, calling for a holistic perspective on America’s political system. The book is an insightful examination of our history and politics, offering personal and political solutions for the renewal of our democracy.

Marianne began her career as a lecturer in Los Angeles in 1983, and since that time she has lectured to hundreds of thousands of people in the United States and abroad. She has written books that include the mega bestseller A Return to Love, The Age of Miracles, Everyday Grace, A Woman’s Worth, Illuminata, Healing the Soul of America,  The Gift of Change and The Law of Divine Compensation.

Purchase Marianne’s Books & CDs

For the past thirty years, Marianne has been a formidable activist for social justice. In 1990, she founded Project Angel Food, a meals-on-wheels program that serves homebound people with AIDS in the Los Angeles area. She also co-founded The Peace Alliance, promoting legislation to establish a United States Department of Peace. And she serves on the Board of Directors of the RESULTS organization, working to end the worst ravages of hunger and poverty throughout the world.

In November 2012, Marianne produced a conference in Los Angeles called SISTER GIANT: Women, Non-Violence and Birthing a New American Politics, attended by almost 2,000 women representing all fifty states.

Williamson has been a popular guest on television programs such as Oprah, Larry King Live, Good Morning America, Charlie Rose and Piers Morgan. She was referred to in a 2006 Newsweek Magazine poll as on one of the 50 most influential baby boomers.

Marianne is a native of Houston. She first moved to Los Angeles in 1983, where she lectured until 1995.  She returned to Los Angeles in 2009 and is now running for U.S. Congress as an independent in CA.

Marianne was on A Better World Radio just over a year ago discussing her then latest book with Mitchell. (

Tune in to learn about Marianne’s run for Congress and for a dynamic dialogue between Mitchell and Marianne on subjects dear to them both.

Sally CoxeFor the second half of the show, Mitchell will be talking to Sally Jewell Coxe, president and co-founder of the international non-profit organization Bonobo Conservation Initiative (BCI).

Known as “Mama Bonobo,” Sally has worked tirelessly for over 20 years to protect bonobos, preserve the Congo rainforest, and empower Congolese communities as leaders in conservation.

Distinguished by their peaceful, matriarchal society, loving nature and profound intelligence, bonobos are humankind’s most closely related great ape relatives, along with chimpanzees.  BCI’s guiding vision is the Bonobo Peace Forest, an integrated network of community-managed nature reserves, supported by sustainable development.  In partnership with local communities and the Democratic Republic of Congo government, BCI has established two official protected areas to date—spanning more than 13,000 square miles of vital rainforest habitat—plus additional sites where local communities are protecting bonobos.

Sally’s innovative work has been recognized in many publications, including the New York Times, National Geographic, The Washington Post, Smithsonian Magazine, Time Magazine—and most recently a new book by award-winning author Deni Béchard entitled Empty Hands, Open Arms: The Race to Protect Bonobos and Make Conservation Go Viral.

Another Election Cycle…Here We Go Again, but Wait! An Important Difference: Marianne Williamson Appearing at Town Hall, NYC March 12

marianne williamsonFirst….my excitement.  One of ‘our friends’ is running for Congress!  A deeply reflective, spiritually-based, thoughtful, caring, compassionate cultural creative, coming to age likely in the late 1960’s-1970’s with an Aqauarian mindset while deeply rooted in the present, Marianne Williamson, a world-acclaimed and loved teacher, guide and author, as her next evolutionary step, is running for Congress.  I believe that she will win, but either way, she, and we, have won.  (“We’ here is “humanity”.)
rocky andersonHaving been pretty close to former Mayor of Salt Lake City, Rocky Anderson just this past election cycle in which he ran for President, having been on his National Steering Committee, I had a bird’s-eye as well as an on-the-street view of this political process, of electoral politics: it isn’t pretty and it sure isn’t Democratic.  Oh from mud the lotus flourishes indeed, but when it’s muddy, one needs a good dose of faith that there’s a lotus coming to blossom. All the more, I salute to Marianne Williamson’s courage, fortitude and commitment.
Our Body Politic is ailing.  It has strayed far from the tenets and intent of its Founding Fathers, and it has strayed far from the fundamentals of kindness, compassion, commonsense, basic ethics and integrity in action.  One disheartening example is that we are all obliged, through our tax system, to financially support activities such as war, economic and social slavery, pollution of our air, water and soil, that a good portion of us spend a good deal of our lives opposing and seeking to turn around.  We are being legally obligated to pay for actions which are virtually 100% opposite to our own sensibilities, values, commitments and world-view.  That is a form of corruption in itself.
The dark side of our system of governance and tax collection has actually created a form of collective schizophrenia in the People it has been established to represent.
The laws themselves are altogether too often unethical, such as Citizens v. United, which has deemed a corporation “a person”, with all the rights of a person, except, interestingly, paying at the same tax rate as “a person”, but it certainly can fund political candidates to untold millions without disclosure of the ‘person’s’ name! (that is, we learn the ‘stage name’ of the corp. but not of the real funders behind it.).  In short, it’s a set-up for disaster.  I sometimes wonder if this corporate person is a male, female or LGBT?  Do we have a right to know? I also wonder what side of bed this ‘corporate person’ gets out of bed on.  Next will be robots who are deemed ‘persons’.
We know that we have a two-tiered justice system and tax system, abiding by the Golden Rule, (not the real one): “He with the gold, gets to rule”.  Just today, a young white teenager is serving on probation instead of jail even though four people died as a result of his drunken driving and one young man is completely paralyzed. His psychologist said that he suffered from “Affluenza”. Yes, folks, too much affluence, and therefore shouldn’t have to go to jail like everyone else would, well, especially if you’re a person of color.  Too much called justice today in the U.S. of A goes this way.
This shouldn’t happen ever, anywhere.  But it also begs the seminal question: ‘what is justice, and what should it look like?”  It is a form of punishment, collective revenge, persecution, or an opportunity to recognize a form of illness and heal, rehabilitate?
TevyeIf justice is “An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth…”, as Tevya in Fiddler on the Roof says,”….we’ll have a world of eyeless, toothless people…”
Iroquois leaderSome Native American tribes believed that breaking the rules of their community and harming others was a form of illness in need of compassionate remedy.  Our own American approach, again, is nothing short of schizophrenic, changing by the State, County, Court, judge and juror without any sense of consistency or coherence.  This is but one, but certainly a germane, issue with which we collectively need to reckon.
I wrote an article some time ago for the Huffington Post called The Pathology of Affluence, because pathology, without other variables present (love, learning to think about and care for others) can arise in affluent families.
We are brimming over with ‘issues’.  Some 17 million children going to bed hungry every night, malnutrition, toxins in almost all food, undisclosed items in the food, deceptive labeling practices, purchased words like ‘natural’, genetically modified food, chemicals, tens of thousands of them, in our water supply, water supply dwindling across the country, infrastructure weakening, governance of localities, municipalities States and Congress subject to powerful lobbies such as Alec, a military industrial complex which is installed in the Pentagon, children without education, without families, without homes, without love and the learning that comes through love in a family.  We are poisoning our Earth, we have contributed to Climate Change, we consume like addicts, we compete always instead of cooperate, 50% of the wealth of the world is amassed in the hands of some 1% of the population.  What is going on?
Self-interest eclipses everything else for so many people in political and economic power.  Linear thinking dominates, not holistic.  There is little sense of the indigenous wisdom of “7 Generations down”, thinking of the consequences of today’s actions through the generations. There is knee-jerk reactivity, not long-term, thoughtful, compassionate, Real Golden Rule planning.  Let’s turn this around.
The issues are many, but so are the solutions.  To bring forward solutions into the Body Politic, to be a voice for the People, we so need people of moral substance and character plus a little charm and humor to stand up, roll up their sleeves and get involved.
We need minds and hearts at ease with mind-and-heart coherence, we need either selflessness or the highest level of enlightened self-interest (curiously they’re virtually the same, actually the latter perhaps more evolved than the former…).  We need the consciousness that says “I can create Miracles.  In fact, I do all the time.  Wanna play?” Marianne Williamson, teacher of The Course in Miracles, has been saying this and doing this for decades.  Her latest book, A Year of Miracles, is effectively a guide to having miracles show up as routine.
Politics is the art of governance, of service; politics is not a science despite the phrase!  So it could use ethical, holistically-thinking artists to do the work of decision-making on behalf of all.  The title and theme of my new book captures it:  Sacred Stewardship: Awakening the Soul to Action.
Being locked into a political party is to sacrifice one’s voice for the party instead of for the Constitutional mandate of “For [all] the People”.  That’s why A Better World supports independent and 3rd Party politics and some of those who have the boldness and courage to move in that direction.
I advocated for Rocky Anderson for instance, just this last election cycle, for President.  We also had Dr. Jill Stein of The Green Party as a guest as well, and reached out to the other 3rd Party and Independent candidates.  More recently, for the NYC Mayoral election, I interviewed successful eco- entrepreneur Jack Hidary who was an independent candidate ( Jack, successful as he was in business, as much as he had helped NYC through any number of different initiatives over the years, could not get media air time. But he did on A Better World.
And now, Marianne Anderson, whom so many of you know as the beautiful, powerful teacher and heartfelt author that she is of so many books through which she gives so much of her thought, her humor and her wisdom, has now stepped up to the plate to play the game of Washington, D.C.
Good News: Marianne Williamson is running for Congress
Shout it from the rooftops.  Let’s help her win.  It’s so interesting that after 40 years of dedicated service, Rep. Henry Waxman just announced, after a lifetime of serving his constituents in California, that he is stepping down.  What are the chances of that happening?
Ralph NaderKucinichIt could well be a sign, and that’s certainly the way to interpret it.  A Better World was behind John Hagelin for U.S. President in 1996 and 2000, Ralph Nader, Rocky Anderson, Dennis Kucinich, and now Marianne Williamson.  Yes folks, we need a vocal 3rd Party, we need to uproot the Dem-Repub. duopolistic strangle-hold on Democracy.  George Washington made it clear at the beginning that we are best off not having parties (“factions”) but “citizen legislators” to do the bidding of The People, not themselves, The People by whom they were elected.
We need a whole new presence in Washington, a new energy, and my hope is that Marianne’s run is going to create a momentum for more open-hearted, big-minded, integrity-based people to take these God-given gifts and use them for this form of hands-on, practical service to society.
On March 10, there will be a fund-raising event at friend and colleague, Sam Daley-Harris’ place in Princeton, NJ. Space is limited.
If you live in the general area and want to attend, go to:
If you haven’t heard my interviews with Sam, the last one on his book Reclaiming Our Democracy, don’t miss it ( plus one on Micro-credit.
