Mitchell Rabin Interviews Native American leader, ecologist, Oannes

Monday, Sept. 10 & 17, 7pm EST:  Tonight we are reaching again into the A Better World archives to 1999 to bring forward a broadcast of Mitchell’s TV interview with the late Oannes Arthur Pritzker, ecologist, journalist and educator from the Yat Kitischee Native Center. Oannes passed away on April 17, 2010.

He was a Native American (Wabanaki Tribal Nation) with nearly 40 yrs of activism. He was the Director of the Yat Kitischee Native Ctr; an Inter-Tribal cultural/ social/environmental/news media organization. He had the honor to live with indigenous peoples in different parts of the world, defending Mother-Earth & Native Culture/Human Rights.

Oannes hosted and produced an award-winning international radio program; “Honoring Mother-Earth/Indigenous Voices” broadcast on www.radio4all.net and on Radio for Peace International www.rfpi.org, short-wave radio across the planet.

For Oannes a major priority was networking with students & youth organizations in order to encourage and support young people’s activism.

Mitchell and Oannes were both on the Advisory Board of Radio For Peace International, Costa Rica, where each had shows and both interested in promoting environmental and social justice.

This interview was conducted on location at the RFPI studio in Costa Rica, at University for Peace, owned & operated by the United Nations.
