Spiritual Summit for Social Change, Sat., Sept. 13, NYC

2nd Presbyterian Church, NYC 6 West 96th–Central Park West (95th- 96th Sts.)

Kurt, with a core team, is heading up a special inter-spiritual event in NYC on Saturday, Sept. 13. J.J. and Desiree Hurtak, Rick Ulfik, Jodi Serota, Victoria and Ron Friedman, Alan Steinfeld, Adam Bucko, Loch Kelly, Doug King, Ken Kitatani, Rick Clugston and I will be speakers at this event which is called Spiritual Summit for Social Change. The Summit will be dynamic as we discuss among the most salient topics of our time: Spirituality as the heart, inclusive and transcendent of religion, how spirituality and spiritual, humane values can be activated, integrated into business, government, academia, science, the arts and cross-culturally so that our world-society can operate on a platform of cooperation and mutual success instead of a lower-brained, survival, me-or-you, warlike, crush-or-be-crushed kind of platform as we in the main currently operate from.

We will be staring down the issues facing our planet or climate change, global warming, serious pollution issues, human trafficking, a definition of terrorism and its causes, and turning our vital attention toward integrative solutions. So spend your Saturday looking at these fundamental issues with us from what we seek to create, which is a higher plane of thinking and creativity. Go to: http://multiplex.isdna.org/news&.htm

.
Robert FullerMonday September 1, 7pm EDT: This evening’s TV show’s guest is Dr. Robert Fuller, author of “All Rise: Somebodies, Nobodies, and the Politics of Dignity”, et al.
.

Robert W. Fuller earned his Ph.D. in physics at Princeton University in 1961 and taught at Columbia, where he co-authored Mathematics of Classical and Quantum Physics.

The mounting social unrest of the 1960’s, and Dr. Fuller’s commitment to educational reform–which he had already demonstrated as a Columbia dean–led his alma mater, Oberlin College, in 1970, to make him its tenth president, succeeding Robert Carr. At age 33, Dr. Fuller became one of the youngest college presidents in U.S. history. During his Oberlin presidency–a turbulent time at Oberlin and in higher education generally–Fuller reshaped the student body by tripling the enrollment of minorities at the college.

After serving as president of Oberlin College, he became a citizen diplomat and set about improving international relations during the Cold War. During the 1990s, he served as board chair of the nonprofit global corporation Internews, promoting democracy via free and independent media.

After the Cold War ended with the collapse of the USSR, Fuller reflected on his career and realized that he had been, at different times in his life, a somebody and a nobody. His periodic sojourns into “Nobodyland” led him to identify rankism—abuse of the power inherent in rank—and ultimately to write Somebodies and Nobodies: Overcoming the Abuse of Rank. Three years later, he published a sequel that focuses on building a “dignitarian society” titled All Rise: Somebodies, Nobodies, and the Politics of Dignity. With co-author Pamela Gerloff, he has also published Dignity for All: How to Create a World Without Rankism. His most recent books are Religion and Science: A Beautiful Friendship?, Genomes, Menomes, Wenomes: Neuroscience and Human Dignity, Belonging: A Memoir, and The Rowan Tree: A Novel.

Purchase Robert’s Books

As a recognized authority on dignity and rankism, Robert Fuller’s ideas and books have been widely covered in the media, including The New York Times, National Public Radio, C-SPAN, The Boston Globe, the BBC, Voice of America, and O, The Oprah Magazine.

In this interview with Mitchell, Dr. Fuller goes into detail about the subtle effects of the concept he coined called “Rankism” and how it affects our daily lives as well as how we can correct this all too human tendency toward judgment.

Monday September 1, 9pm EDT : Because of the holiday, we will repeat last week’s show about the award-winning documentary, The End of Poverty.

This is a powerful film describing how the indigenous peoples of the Americas were raped and pillaged by the Europeans and how this corrupted these ancient civilizations and left them like empty husks contributing to a cycle of poverty for hundreds of years continuing into today.

The End of Poverty

.
For discussion following a clip from the film, Mitchell will discuss the film and its central themes with the film’s director Philippe Diaz and producer Matthew Stillman.
.
.
Philippe DiazPhilippe Diaz was selected as one of ten ‘Moviemakers Making a Difference’ by: MovieMaker magazine.
.

Purchase films directed by Philippe Diaz

Born in Paris France, Philippe Diaz studied Philosophy at the Sorbonne in Paris, and began his film career as a director in 1980. After directing and producing several short feature and documentary films, commercials and corporate videos, Diaz moved fully into the producer’s role with his first feature film,

“Havre” by Juliet Berto (cult actor/director of the French New Wave). His second feature, “Rue Du Depart” by Tony Gatlif (“Gadjo Dilo”) starred Gérard Depardieu, winning several Grand Prize awards at major international festivals.

After moving to Los Angeles in 1991, he has continued to produce films with budgets ranging from $200,000 and $15 million under his production shingle. With “Heavy Metal 2000”, he was able to broaden his production knowledge with the animated production and his collaboration with Columbia / TriStar.

In 2003, he created Cinema Libre Studio, with a consortium of partners to provide an alternative structure for intelligent, independent films to get developed, financed, produced and distributed.

matthew stillmanMatthew Stillman, former Food Network
programming executive who developed hit shows like Iron Chef and Good Eats among others, delved deeper into the connection between food, media and education with the feature length documentary The End of Poverty?
.

Purchase Matthew Stillman’s Books

The film, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, investigates the origins of poverty and the question of why it persists in a world with so much wealth. Matthew has spoken about his film four times at the UN and continues to work in the food and media realm and as an advocate on poverty issues.

See You in September!
.
Oh yes, the old refrain.  And, we all feel so renewed come September, roaring to enter a new school year.  Oh you graduated? Perhaps from high school, college or grad. school, but did you graduate from the biggest, most fulfilling yet challenging of them all, The School school of lifeof Life? sometimes known as the School of Hard Knocks.
.
school of hard knocksWho would have ever thought that with our relatively advanced brain capacity, heart capacity, capacity to express compassion, understanding and love, that we’d have so many obstacles in their consistent expressions?  Interrupted as they are with fortresses and blockades of every size and dimension?  Who would have thought that integrity among leaders and among the wealthiest power-brokers of society would be so poor in integrity and respect for life?
.
catThese are some of the reasons that the School of Life is so tough.  We don’t really get summers off at this school, but at least take a little break, Yang always invokes Yin by definition.  September for us pioneers in the shaping of a new vision for humanity, and new inner and outer lives, just picks up a new sense of purpose, optimism and ambition after being worn down the seasons before.
.
Interestingly, this summer has been one of the most challenging on the global stage I can remember, but please correct me if I’m wrong.
.
Israel and PalestineThink about it: the old Israel-Palestinian conflict kicked up again. Being as impartial and biological as I can, everyone needs water, food, electricity and the ability to provide for one’s own. Growing food, irrigation, commerce, shelter, clothes, medical supplies, schools and the ability to grow are the simplest, most organic and basic of needs in Maslow’s and anyone’s hierarchy, sine quo non.
.
My view is that in their interpretation of what they need, Israel curtails, and denies the Palestinians these basics.  They face malnutrition and humiliation; and this untenable situation results in a rageful outcry with launching missiles. It’s an immature expression of outrage, granted, but when you box people into a cage, this is a natural reaction.  Allow the basics, allow sovereignty which allows dignity and things can change for the good.  It should be obvious that a two-state solution should be pursued. But currently, it’s an eye for an eye and everyone ends up blind.
.
Syria continues to implode and explode.  Yes, of course, because Climate Change has rendered much of Syria dry as a bone, no water, so none to drink or grow food.  Again, people are starving.  This has caused, yes caused, the mainstay of the unrest.  There is an entire chain of activity that would need to change to bring water back to that region, which has to do with fossil fuel dependence, de-forestation, water/air contamination all the way to lifestyle change and moving if not 100%, largely a plant-based diet.
.
It appears that Syria’s conflict is political, and surely it is to some extent, but born out of conditions of drought. So its solution is to provide water sources to the neediest there.  Permaculture, among other means, offers at least some measure of solution.
.
russia and ukraineRussia and Ukraine? The U.S. promised Russia to keep NATO out of the former U.S.S.R., so says Prof. Steven Cohen (http://www.thenation.com/authors/stephen-f-cohen).  Yet, the U.S. persisted to influence Ukraine in this direction and then backed the coup d’etat which occurred some months back, deposing the Democratically-elected President. But it appears that Putin is just ‘the bad guy’ and the U.S. is pure as the driven snow.  Amazing what media and White House propaganda can do to sway public perception and opinion!
The best preparation to be a politician is not the study of law or political science, but acting and theater. This isn’t to say Putinthat Putin’s entering Crimea or Ukraine are justified or in any way support any idea of Global Political Sustainability–not at all–but we have to look behind the curtain and get a greater sense of the history here and the whole context, not just what appear as his outer actions. Demonizing him as a single player wreaking havoc on an otherwise a peaceful, workable political situation there is doubly foolish..
.
It should also be recognized that it’s an awesome skill that the White House, Congress with their obedient lapdog, the Commercial, Mainstream Media, are able to perform time and again in regard to international politics and framing the U.S.’ role always as benign, altruistic and Democracy-supporting.  It is nearly Shakespearean. And the audience “laps it up!”
.
To characterize the U.S. media could be done in a phrase, instead of “give me the facts, just the facts…” as “give me anything but the facts, anything!”  Thankfully, an increasing number of Americans see that the Emperor (yes, the President) is wearing no clothes.
.
So economies, such as the EU, are plummeting because of U.S. insistence on economic sanctions against Russia which aren’t working, the U.S. is becoming decreasingly popular so there is mounting interest in de-stabilizing the U.S. dollar by removing it from being the world’s reserve currency, more and more money is going into wars (though note, no longer called wars, after all, that’s not politically correct) and less to repairing our disabled infrastructure, education and real needs of Americans (small things like clean water, food, shelter).
Our own country is going to pot (yes, quite literally) while billions are being spent abroad to kill people and fight in “conflicts” (not wars mind you!) which have the opposite outcome than that which is intended.  Billions spent and millions dead later. War doesn’t work, have we not noticed?  It has nothing to do with that as Gen. Smedley Butler tirelessly pointed out nearly 100 years ago. It’s merely “a racket” to serve corporations and the military industrial, energy, chemical, media and pharmaceutical complexes.
Lao-Tse, some 2,600 years ago said that war is absolutely the last resort in dealing with conflict with others, and it is always entered with the deepest regret.  There must be allowance for such barbarism in a humanity seeking to go beyond its basic reptilian functions but not succeeding so well, but much better to emphasize the possibility of rising above it, and working with belief systems around fear and survival, which, after all, is really what war seeks to mitigate.
obamaIn short, this has been an extremely aggravating summer for those seeking to govern. Mainstream media prefers to discuss the color of the President’s suits than his policies, and the extreme, long-
term impact they may have.  And I haven’t mentioned the popularity of drones, even for commercial purposes (delivery by Amazon, etc.) and the popularity of the militarization of police forces around our beautiful, free country.  We’re in trouble my friends, right here in River City.
.
Thankfully, the other side of the coin is those who have learned well at the School of Life. Those are our guests on A Better World Radio this week, people who have been and are playing leading roles in supporting and promulgating peace across the planet.  These are A students, so I’ll be interviewing on Wednesday, from international peace initiatives to the initiators of The Compassion Games.  Game on!
.
septemberSo let’s see September as a time of renewal.  After all, it is the Jewish New Year and millions of school children have new notebooks that they are comporting to school.  Perhaps we adults with our notebooks and laptops, can start acting like adults and model leadership and adulthood to our children–and each other–and rise to the head of the class in the School of Life.  A fresh slate for all.

Rosh Hashanah of the Year 5774

5744 Jewish calendarHere we are again, celebrating the Hebrew, lunar calendar.  Some Jews celebrate, some Gentiles do too, and many of each do not.  I seek to celebrate on every occasion I can no matter what the occasion, religious or otherwise, because life is so full of ‘everything else’, I want to take every opportunity to honor and thank it, L’Chaim, for the grace and opportunity of living it.

One could ask “what have we learned in 5,744 years?”  Have we learned to love more, feel more compassion for the difficult plight of others?  Or have Jews in Israel learned just to fight better and to belittle and harass their Palestinian neighbors?  Honestly, I see the issue as governmentally-based, not people based.  What I know of people on the ground, they get along with each other, no matter what the differences in background.  Sometimes they inter-marry, sometimes they do business together–they’re all, we’re all, just people.  No one is better than another, and everyone deserves land.  Governments cause wars, rarely do people themselves rise up against their neighbors.

I will be simple-minded.  Stop fighting.  Stop seeking revenge for those who you say the other killed in the past.  Start fresh.  Provide what each side needs according to their meme (think Spiraldynamics) as Don Beck was doing when in Israel.  What’s happened in the past is awful. No one wants to remember all the bloodshed.  Let’s remember how awful we humans can be, indeed, as we make real efforts to re-train ourselves, re-program ourselves for forgiveness and understanding.

So many Jews, so many Israelis, are opposed to the government’s stand against the Palestinians, and so few people know that water is so scarce in Gaza that the kids and anyone, hardly have any at all, except for expensive bottled water.  When people have almost no food, little water, barely any livelihood and little opportunity for autonomy and a sense of dignity, they lash out with whatever weapon they have, be it missiles or rocks.  It’s not good, it is not by any means to be condoned, but one wants to understand the psychological and physical context in which so much of the violence perpetuated by the Palestinians originates.

I wish all people in the region, and everywhere, a good and healthy, peaceful New Year.

On an altogether different note, I’ll note that much good is happening already using both calendars, even the Chinese, at least locally.  The other night for instance, A Better World sponsored Michael Tellinger in NYC, who gave a mesmerizing, 3-hour talk and presentation at the MetaCenter, presenting information on the use of sound for healing as well as for powering equipment.  He made a case for the origins of human life, essentially bred as a slave species for the Annunaki, a special breed of deity, a very interesting idea that’s been in circulation for many decades and popularized in the last few by the Biblical and Sumerian scholar Zechariah Sitchin.  Make sure you’re on our mailing list to prepare for next year’s presentation, which will be deeper and more extensive even than this one.

Rabbi Schomo CarlebachAnd my good friend Mark Becker invited me to join him and the michpucha to see the off-Broadway show, Soul Doctor, the night before Rosh Hashana, all about the life of Rabbi Schlomo Carlebach.  It was a stunning story and show, and I’d highly recommend that you go to see it.  We laughed, we cried, we were moved deeply. (http://souldoctorbroadway.com).

And we have the opportunity to make this year one of peace.  How?  Continue to speak up to your Congress members and Senators, that you vehemently do not want intervention in Syria, that you want a true, negotiated peace with Iran and Israel, and complete withdrawal from Afghanistan and Iraq.  Further, that we speak peace among ourselves and that peace be the conversation in Washington, not “who wants to attack us?”, which is almost an invitation.

I think many people at this point see the senselessness of war, even those who may have considered it a very viable option just a few short years ago.  So many Americans soldiers have been killed or wounded in Afghanistan and Iraq, so many innocent people in their own countries killed or wounded, so much devastation on every level has occurred and is in the public consciousness.  The insanity of war is beginning to really show itself, not to we peace-makers, but to the otherwise, “go to war” types our country is overwhelmed with.

The White House is not easily mustering up its usual suspects for going to war in Syria, much, I am sure, to the chagrin of the military-industrial complex.  The memory of the falsely-based premise for war with Iraq is still lingering in the public psyche and this now with Syria is just “a little too similar”.  The “sale” is just not working well.

The idea of spending billions on war when our own children don’t have enough food to eat, when millions have lost their homes due to foreclosures, millions are unemployed, our school system is collapsing as is our national infrastructure, is just not ‘sitting well” with your rank-and-file American.  The “terrorism sale” is losing its shine.  Not to mention, I don’t think Americans are happy at all with the NSA and Post Office’s antics of invading our emails and phone calls for any reason, that is, without probable cause and a Judge’s issue of a warrant, per the terms of that famous old, but rarely consulted document known as the U.S. Constitution.  So where getting somewhere as a nation, slowly, not quickly, after way too much bloodshed, after way too much waste of resources, after way too much aggressive destruction of ancient civilizations, but some movement is taking place, thankfully.

For full transformation to occur, we can begin with changing the language we use from war-lingo to peace-lingo, the conversation about what’s possible, change the energy around the subject of peace, change the mind, which changes the action.  Not complicated, well known, just too infrequently executed. Let’s change the frequency.

Ross JacksonMonday, April 2, 6pm EDT:

Today’s guest for the hour is author of Occupy World Street: A Global Roadmap for Radical Economic and Political Reform (see www.occupyworldstreet.org.) and numerous others, Ross Jackson.

For many years he been an innovative leader in both the business and NGO worlds. His business career has been as an independent IT consultant and software designer, specializing in international finance.

Among other things, he co-founded in 1971 SimCorp, which is today a leading global financial software company and listed on the NASDAQ OMX Nordic Exchange. In 1988, he founded the first international hedge fund dealing exclusively with interbank currency trading. He is chairman of Gaia Trust, a Danish-based charitable entity he co-founded in 1987 to promote a more sustainable and spiritual world.

Gaia Trust has financed hundreds of sustainability projects in over 30 countries as well as several “green” start-ups in Denmark, and continues to support two major international NGO initiatives-the Global Ecovillage Network and Gaia Education.

Ross’ undergraduate degree was in Engineering Physics in Canada, followed by a Master’s degree in Industrial Management at Purdue University and a PhD in Operations Research, the science of problem solving, at Case Western Reserve University in the USA. Born a Canadian, he has since 1964 lived in Denmark, and became a Danish citizen in 1972.

His current business activity includes Urtekram, the leading organic foods wholesaler in Scandinavia, of which he is the major shareholder. He lives with his Danish wife, Hildur, on an organic farm near Copenhagen.

Mitchell and Ross met some years ago first in NY, then at his home in Copenhagen during which times a dialogue about business and sustainability began, of which this interview is an organic continuation.  Tune in for a series of searing analyses, solutions and strategies of how to “get from here to there” regarding the current world-crisis we are currently experiencing in all spheres.

Horst RechelbackerTuesday, April 3, 10:30pm EDT:

This evening’s guest is innovator, entrepreneur and environmentalist, Horst Rechelbacher.

Austrian by birth and son of an herbalist, Horst is an active environmentalist, innovative business leader, author, artist, and organic farmer. At age fourteen, Horst began a three-year apprenticeship in the beauty and salon industry. With an award-winning career as a hairstylist, in 1965, he started his own salons and product line called Horst.

In 1978, Horst founded Aveda Corporation, a global plant-based cosmetic company. Nearly two decades later, he sold Aveda to Estee Lauder but remained a consultant until March 2003.

Now he’s focused on his new product paradigm, Intelligent Nutrients, a health and beauty product company utilizing 100% food-based and organic certified ingredients.

Since the mid 1960’s, Horst has dedicated himself to analyzing the chemical constitution of plants, and pioneered flower and plant-based flavor-aroma-therapy, functional foods, and nutraceuticals to enhance personal health and well being. In his continuing study of plant-based medicine, he collaborates with noted physicians, chemists and pharmacologists, as well as with experts and traditional healers throughout the world.

Horst is one of the three original founders of Business for Social Responsibility, which promotes the idea that businesses have the greatest responsibility and opportunity to provide sustainability to all living species. In 2004, he became a founding member of the Organic Center for Education, Research and Promotion, and the beauty industry awarded him the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mitchell and Horst, in this interview shot some time ago in NYC, discuss the importance of sustainable and ecological principles and values into the corporate world.  Tune in for an exciting dialogue with one of the world’s environmentally-attuned business leaders who exemplifies that it can be done.

Wednesday April 3, Blog Talk Radio Show, 6pm EDT – Listen at www.abetterworld.tv!

Continuing the theme of transformation of our world’s business model from self-interest and profit-at-all-cost to collective-interest and profit through being in accordance with humane and ecological principles of Sacred Stewardship as discussed in my upcoming book (today’s show will have samplings from it), I will speak of the shift of consciousness in inner ecology/psychology that will lead to the outer shift toward a sustainable business model.

Referenced also will be points made by my guest of the last two shows, Presidential candidate for theRocky Anderson Justice Party, Ross “Rocky” Anderson, who, also as a deep humanitarian and environmentalist, seeks to align our Body Politic according to these same principles so that it could serve the purposes it was created for: Serving the People. Of all the candidates currently running for office, while there are a few strong ones, in my view, Rocky embodies the strength of character, the conviction of values, the largesse of heart and the actual executive experience (something we haven’t seen in a President in a while) to be the country’s leader at this Elect Rocky Anderson pintime of massive crisis something else we haven’t seen in a long while.  You can go to www.voterocky.org, www.justicepartyusa.org, to learn more, donate (limit of $100/person to his campaign) and get involved in your locality to assist with petitions for ballot access, local organization and PR, etc. This is a chance to break away from the duopoly, break with the illness of this 2-party-really-1-party system and get involved in developing a “real politics of, for and by The People”, which this country has not seen in a long time, yet is vital at this point, to our actual survival, not just as a nation, but to help preserve our human species.

This is the actual direness of our planetary situation which few people want to actually acknowledge.  To reference a quote from Ross Jackson’s book from renowned author of The Ecology of Commerce and Blessed Unrest, and Paul Hawkenenvironmentalist Paul Hawken,

If you look at the science about what’s happening on Earth and aren’t pessimistic, you don’t understand data.”

I would have said “alarmed” instead of pessimistic, but this accounts for the different kinds of flowers in the garden.  The point, in either case, hits home and should.  We live on the mere surface of things without looking at the depths of the consequences of our actions over the course of especially the last century.

I should really title this “getting clear of fear about voting 3rd party…” because that’s really all it is. You’ll only find quality candidates in the independent parties.  You surely won’t find them in the two, ol’ boy clubs called Republican and Democrat.  Among some progressives (not real ones), there is a ‘conversation’ that goes on about “what if the Republicans win”, oh my God!  Disaster!  Oh really? Do you really think that would be much different than what we have now?  Think again!  There may be a slight change in rhetoric but not action.

national health insuranceOne of the greatest ironies these days is around the Health Care Issue. This will help to make the point.  Romney put into place a form of single-payer, health-care system in Massachusetts as governor.  According to a seasoned and critical doctor I know there, it’s working quite well, and offers some monetary protections to its citizens otherwise not there.  Obama based his health-care plan on Romney’s!

But, due to his deep loyalty to some of his donors, e.g., the insurance industry, he innovated a new dimension for his bill, which is “Insurance for all!” leaving aside whether people, according to their own Constitutional and human right, even want insurance.  That’s another subject, but other than a few other similar points, the essence of ObamaCare is RomneyCare.

Now I’m all for ‘what works’ and crossing party lines all over the place. When it is for the People is something I applaud–I’d like to see more of it.  I don’t fault Obama for taking what works from Romney’s plan.  But to make believe that these parties are two instead of one except at special moments is something we need to take a look at.  Even if there are ideological differences, it doesn’t matter because ideology couldn’t be less relevant at this point in time.  What is most relevant is that both parties are paid by the very same sources, and that is largely the large corporate interests, and the parties are there to party with their donors, and We are not invited!

So one day Obama gets righteous and stands up against the Keystone Pipeline, a hotly debated issue between parties.  About six weeks later, we see that his stance was actually based on some logistical/administrative quirk, not the ethical-environmental issue he made it seem his stance was about.  And now he is for the Keystone Pipeline.

Can we observe, stay aware of these fluctuations of mind, and truly digest them (we better have a strong stomach..!) to see that we are getting nowhere with, as Ralph Nader says, “Twiddly-Dee and Twiddly-Dum” two-party politics.  Neither represent the People, so why do we keep going back to them?  Do we like choosing between the ‘lesser of two evils’?

Have we all been so traumatized in childhood that we continue to attract an abusive parent?

George McGovernI have been voting 3rd party for nearly every election in which I’ve had opportunity to vote since age 18.  At 18, I voted for George McGovern, the Peace candidate, and produced a benefit concert of Herbie Mann, fabulous jazz flutist, and Dave Brubeck’s sons who had a great jazz band, to help him raise funds for his campaign.  At that time, the Democratic Party was a wholly owned subsidiary of Glob-Corp.  But I’ve been listening to my intuition and heart about these things for a long time.  I voted for Ralph Nader in the last election, not Obama (though I cried from joy when aRalph Nader black man did win the Presidency in this otherwise outrageously racist nation, and I did feel a real hope for hope…inside my chest…I wanted to believe in the message he gave of change, oh yes, only to be disappointed like all progressives worth their salt in just a few short months before we saw that the country had elected a Bush III just of color, profoundly sad to say…).

Enough! Enough of sentimentality and hope for what won’t be.  What matters is having a leader, not a politician, assume political office. And so I encourage you to break out of the two-party trance and take on a pro-active role in taking your government back to serve You, your family, your friends, your community.  Enough!

Americans Elect is an interesting organization which is exerting more influence on electoral politics.  Take a look.  Rocky Anderson is second of declared candidates and with your vote there, you can help to push him to the top. Go to: http://www.americanselect.org/profile-candidate/342450/draft-status#

At www.abetterworld.tv you will also find my two interviews with Rocky (go to Radio Archive and scroll down) and a series of videos on him on the Home Page on the lower right-hand corner.

light spriitual path imagesMany of my readers are, similar to myself, spiritually-based, conscious feelers and thinkers. We care deeply about the interface of Spirit and Matter, and the potential alchemy when the two are brought together.  Perhaps the essence of the spiritual path is to bring Light to Dark, love to those places where there is its absence.  In the worlds of economics and politics, we see the darker parts of humanity manifest, due to the abundance of confusion around money and power.  Sad, but true.  Being tuned in to the formation of a “New Politics” and a “New Economics” is vitally important to the continuance and flowering of one’s spiritual path as it is bringing light to darkness and love to confusion.  I engage my dear brothers and sisters to consider how the notion I proposed when I first became aware of it through my sitting practice in the 1980’s, Spirit-in-Action.

Last, I want to bring attention to my guests this week.  Ross Jackson has been a real influence in the building up of eco-villages and education around sustainability through his founding of The Gaia Trust, all the while being a leader in international finance and founding one of the first hedge-funds based in Europe. He has taken his decades of experience in finance and his deep love and respect for Earth and her creatures, and has formulated it into what he calls “a road map” that outlines how we break the stranglehold of the current 1%-dominated economies of the world and, while maintaining global economic relationships, simultaneously focus in on building local, sustainable economies.  World-renowned economist and progressive thinker, long-time colleague of Ross Jackson’s, Hazel Henderson, (who we expect to have on the show sometime soon too) writes an engaging forward and pledges to help Ross bring this road map to fruition.

As a people world-wide, we are suffering at the brutal economic, social and political injustice that are epidemic and systemic, and this interview with Ross on A Better World Radio this coming Monday evening offers both analysis and solutions, as well as how to get “from here to there”, how to effect the transition, so please join us at 6pm EST.

And on TV, friend Horst Rechelbacher, who I introduced to magnetic technologies for the environment many moons ago, is a man who lives “Spirit-in-Action”.  Horst brought his humane, Earth-loving spiritual values into the heart of the marketplace through Aveda, and continues to do same through his company Intelligent Nutrients.  Author of several books, he has also been on A Better World Radio, talking about how a corporation is best when based on The Ways of Nature.  Horst is a real mensch and one wants to curl up and listen!

It’s a pleasure and honor to have both men of Spirit-in-Action on this week’s programs.

A Better World has a Clean, Portable Solution to the Bottled Water Disaster

clean waterYes, people want clean water, and recognize how important water is to health and well-being. And they either have at-home water filters or, hmm, buy bottled water.  The former is good, and A Better World has these available A whole-house system is less than $5,000, but for say, an apartment, under the kitchen sink, would run around $600 and for the shower, around $250 and these are excellent. Inquire through our website or at 212 420-0800.

We also have a real alternative to the bottled water disaster which is bottling up our oceans in plastic, and plastic leeches into the water we’re drinking–in every way– it’s a disaster and more expensive. Happily,  WE HAVE AN ANSWER!  Our portable water filters  are so inexpensive, you could make them a gift to those you love, you can save your pocketbook, your health and environment all in one gulp.

Seychelle Filters Up To 100 Gallons Of WaterFor about $30 (plus s/h), you can get either a stainless-steel or a lightweight, poly-propylene (high-grade, no leeching), portable water-filter bottle that you stick in your bag or purse.  Some even come in colors.  You’ll be helping A Better World at the same time.

We have a program for purchasing our portable water filters for Haitian children and families as well.  Please inquire at abetterworldinfo@yahoo.com.

To order, go to: www.abetterworld.tv and on the Home Page, in the right-hand column, you can’t miss them, just click through and order a few for friends, family.

Let’s start a trend, a fashion, of people carrying their own water filters in a hand-held bottle, to yoga class, to business meetings, to everywhere else.  And by the way, it’ll cost you a fraction of what it costs you now to buy bottled water.

Mitchell Interviews CEO, Emergynt on Cybersecurity

There is of course war in the form of military conflict but there are much subtler ones being waged these days such as economic and cyber-wars. For cyber-wars, we gently call it “hacking” but it is war.  And needs to be dealt with as such.  Best of course is to educate people and inculcate the values of peace starting at early ages, but in the meantime, protecting a nation’s businesses and institutions from hacking at this point in time, is just essential.
Today’s topic will focus on the serious increase of cyber-attacks and what can and is being done about it.
To discuss this today with Mitchell is CEO of Emergynt, one of the leading cybersecurity firms in the U.S. and arguably, the world, is Ori Lapidot.  Mr. Lapidot is a Strategy, Business Development and Marketing Executive with more than twenty-five years of domestic and international experience generating over $1 Billion in revenues on multiple occasions. With an outstanding record of performance, Ori develops scalable new products, global distribution channels and paradigm-shifting business strategies.  Emergynt has become his next of a series of companies for which he is beginning to drive major revenues while providing a seriously critical service to keep our society’s institutions, even those that are in need of much internal reform, sustainable.
Mitchell was part of the original founding of Emergynt and is intimate with its history and vision.  He takes great pleasure in a consulting/advisory capacity with Ori and now interviewing him so more people can know of the good work of the company with Ori’s leadership.  Knowing what he is doing for the company in particular, and protecting companies and institutions in general across the globe is reason that Mitchell wants to share this good story with his audience.

Mitchell Rabin Holds CBD Oil Round Table with Health Entrepreneurs

CBD Oil is gaining ground and market share in our society on many levels.  Many say that it has been a long time in coming and glad the day has arrived.  It is replacing many toxic or addictive drugs that are usually prescribed by doctors for pain, anxiety or insomnia, seizures, cataracts, etc.  We’re seeing clinically significant results across the country.
To help us understand more about CBD Oil, Mitchell invited a few experts who are currently marketing their own unique lines which we’ll learn about today to join him in the Round Table.
Judith Schreuder was born in Bandoeng, Indonesia and grew up in The Netherlands where she received a degree in Nursing. She was married 1969,and relocated to Germany where she worked in a hospital there.

In 1987 Judith received her B.A. in Psychology from C.S.U.C, and in 1994 Judith received her Masters in Social Work from C.S.U.S.

From 1989-1992 Judith was the case manager for a State-funded Project specifically for people with HIV and AIDS.

From 2008-2011 Judith made home visits with an MD to severely ill patients providing legal and medical advice relating to Cannabis.

Judith is the Founder of Dutch Farms Organics,Inc established in 2010.  In 2013 Dutch Farms Organics joined the National Cannabis Industry Association and in 2015 became a business member of California Growers Association and Judith serves on the Board. In 2015 until 2018 Dutch Farms Organics became a business member of Inland Growers Association and served on the board.

As a nurse and master social worker, caring for terminally ill patients with cancer and HIV disease,Judith has dedicated her career to helping patients live a more productive life through the use of organic healthy foods and the natural chemicals found in medical marijuana and other alternative methods. https://www.dutchfarmsorganics.com/

Wendee Brungardt is the founder of Cornerstone Botanicals and thier well-rounded line of CBD products. CBD has positively benefited my life, giving me a passion to share my knowledge and experience using CBD with others. Her son, Tyler Brungardt, heading up the Pet Products, will be joining us too.

It was about 5 years ago that I (Wendee) began having difficulty with my hormones, which brought on negative moods and thoughts. I have always been a natural health girl, but I decided it was time to see a doctor to have my blood and hormones checked. All tests showed that I was completely healthy, but I knew I wasn’t,and that something detrimental was going on with my health.

I was diagnosed with P.M.D.D. (pre-menstrual dysphoric syndrome), which is basically P.M.S. times a hundred. I was encouraged to start on a low dose antidepressant, even though I wasn’t clinically depressed. I didn’t think it was what I needed, but I was desperate for help, so I began the regimen. Within 6 months of taking antidepressants, I became depressed and had no joy in life — becoming even further from my normal self. I knew there had to be something else out there that could help me — something that could get to the root of what was causing these changes rather than simply numbing the symptoms and creating unwanted side effects.

Even though at the time, there was very little information online and retailers were unable to educate consumers on CBD, I began researching on my own. I was intrigued and thought it might be something that could truly benefit me. As an exercise science/physiology major and certified massage therapist, I understood the science behind our endocannabinoid system (ECS) and how that system brings balance and a better well-being internally. I knew that using CBD would nourish and promote my ECS to work more efficiently, providing the balance I desperately needed.  https://cornerstonebotanicals.com/

Mitchell Rabin Interviews Isa Flores-Jones, The Sunrise Movement

The millennials, as is appropriate, are outraged at the media blackout around the real crisis of Global Warming that of course leads to the accelerated issue of Climate Change that is happening right now across the world.

To discuss this on behalf of the specific work of the Sunrise Movement is Isa Flores-Jones, Press and Media fellow with the Sunrise Movement. Before working for Sunrise, she coordinated the fossil fuel divestment campaign at Harvard University. She calls Sacramento, California home. Find her on twitter at @isaboringjones.

The crisis of Global Warming we feel at A Better World both eclipses and contributes to most all the other pressing issues of our day of which there are in fact so many, from migration of populations, to economic, social and political justice.  Recognizing the through-line is a significant breakthrough that allows for coherent, coordinated movement forward which the Sunrise Movement has been taking.
