Stop Three Ticking Time Bombs and Survive!

The first time bomb is SOLAR STORMS, such as the one NASA predicts will strike Earth.

Any large solar storm hitting Earth could bring down power grids for months, causing nuclear plant meltdowns. Worldwide, 20,000 huge transformers can fail.  LIGHTS OUT, POWER GONE! Safety devices, now in pre-production, could deter this catastrophe. They will defend the grids, provide a boost to the economy, generate jobs, and save many millions of lives.

“If we discovered that space aliens were planning to attack and we needed a massive buildup to counter the space alien threat and…inflation and budget deficits took second place to that, this slump would be over in 18 months.” PAUL KRUGMAN interviewed by FAREED ZAKARIA on CNN

With the sunstorm threat, fast action will produce the same economic result!

AND POLITICAL LANDSCAPE how solar flares, sun storms and huge eruptions from the sun work in this infographic.

The second time bomb consists of Fukushima fuel pools. “…we almost had 15 meltdowns. It would have been species threatening had that occurred.” Arnie Gunderson of Fairewinds Associates, June 7th 2012.  Unit 4 radioactive waste, 100 feet above the ground, is in a badly damaged building. Breakdowns of the precarious cooling system can cause a catastrophic radioactive inferno.

What Is the U.S. Government waiting for? (A) …potential global catastrophe that would result from the collapse of Reactor 4 at Fukushima. The message is simple and clear—Japan’s government will not act; it is the United States who must step forward.” Akio Matsumura  June 11th 2012.No one
denies that a problem with Fukushima No. 4 fuel pool would be the end of Japan.”
Japanese Diplomat June 25th.

Despite false official denials of danger, a strong earthquake, a 98% probability within 3 years, could lead to North America becoming uninhabitable by humans for centuries to come. Imagine the entire Northern hemisphere being inundated by 9 times the radiation released at Chernobyl. This could threaten the very existence of the USA. Powerful political pressure on Japan, coupled with technical assistance, may prevent a cataclysm. An around-the-clock effort must begin without delay. See
pages 9-13.
Fukushima Reactors from the Air

Climate change is the third time bomb. Far faster action is required. The good news: superseding fossil fuels is becoming cost-effective. Black Swans: highly improbable innovations with huge energy implications are being born. To insure survival against long-term blackouts, as well as nuclear nightmares, let’s accelerate the decentralization of electric power. Start by installing 50 million more solar roofs. For revolutionary new possibilities, see CHEAP GREEN and MOVING BEYOND OIL, on this website. Decentralization, in response to the solar storm threat, may prove the most practical path to a high-speed effort to reduce the need to burn any fossil fuel. Once understood, the desire to survive might produce the presently absent political support. Heat Global Warming

NASA officials see a likely barrage of solar storms striking Earth’s geomagnetic field. The most recent of several modest ones struck us July 8th. Solar storms severe enough to destroy energy grids around the world for months, or even years, have been predicted to occur up to 14 times within the next 3 years. After just two weeks without grid or standby power, unfortunately a very real possibility, many nuclear plants would become meltdown candidates!

400 Chernobyls is the title of the lead article in DIRE WARNINGS on this website.  Author Matthew Stein claims an “Apocalyptic scenario is not only possible, but probable” -as a result of solar storms causing multiple meltdowns at nuclear plants worldwide. Evacuation costs near each U.S. nuclear
plant could easily exceed one trillion dollars and contaminated land would be uninhabitable for generations. Such storms could become commonplace for the foreseeable future.

Space physicist Pete Riley, senior scientist at Predictive Science, has calculated there is an appallingly likely – 1 in 8, or 12.5%  – chance of a catastrophic solar storm striking between now and 2020.

Aesop Institute is a non-profit California corporation. We need interim financial assistance. Loans earning 10% and/or contributions totaling $5,000, or more, will keep this work going. Chava Energy, the company which I co-founded, is developing cheap green energy. Feel free to contact me about either.

Solar activity peaks every 11 years. Much of this energy is absorbed by the upper atmosphere, but some of it gets through –at levels too low to cause direct damage to humans. It can, however, interfere with the high power transmission lines which crisscross the US. When these lines get overloaded, they can knock out and sometimes destroy the transformers whose task it is to step down the voltage which passes through them.

Scientists know that vastly larger and more destructive solar storms than (the one that hit Quebec a few years ago) are inevitable. The last recorded Solar Superstorm called the “Carrington Event” occurred over a period of nine days in 1859. It is believed to have been caused by an explosion on the sun equivalent in force to a billion hydrogen bombs. Telegraph networks failed across the Northern Hemisphere, in some cases even catching fire.

Nobody knows when another storm of this size will envelop our planet, but if it does, electrical grids throughout the world will be destroyed. NASA warns that such an event would cause “an avalanche of blackouts carried across continents [that] “could last for weeks to months.” A Solar Superstorm would be impossible to repair (rapidly).

And if this were not bad enough, the loss of power to nuclear power plants would threaten to create a whole string of Fukushima-type disasters around the globe. The core meltdowns last March was caused by the loss of power to the reactor cooling systems which made the nuclear fuel rods overheat. A potential loss of power for weeks at a time, such as would result from a Solar Superstorm, could overwhelm the capacity of emergency electrical power systems at nuclear generating plants to cope, according to a 2011 report by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

READER: If you agree this is urgent, how can we get the information on this website widely understood fast enough to matter? Can you open a path to Bill Maher, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Moore, or others who might make a difference?

Parts of the USA outlined above are susceptible to long-term grid collapse due to the effects of a strong solar storm.

The above map is from 400 Chernobyls. The article: Fukushima – Worse than Chernobylfollows immediately below it in DIRE WARNINGS, on
this website.

Many millions of lives might be saved by rapid, wise, action!  A new invention, soon in production, will protect critical power grids. (Note: I have no financial interest in the firm involved). Black Swans, highly improbable innovations, may reduce nuclear waste – and along with other inventions – may provide long-term standby power capability at nuclear plants.  Other Black Swans, to the surprise of many, will soon begin to create CHEAP GREEN power. For example, LENR, fueled by tiny amounts of Nickel powder – and the Aqueous fuel cell, fueled only by fresh, or salt, water.

Cost-competitive renewable systems, if produced on a 24/7 basis, might lower fuel prices, saving most of us approximately $2,000/year.

Even without solar storms, accelerating decentralized power installations will help to reboot the economy, generating very large numbers of new jobs. Alexei Dmitriev, a controversial scientist, says that our sun is now moving into an interstellar energy cloud, which a visiting physicist at NASA has stated is turbulent. Dmitriev explains that this cloud of energycauses bigger and more frequent solar storms and Coronal Mass Ejections  (CME’s). He refers to the 1859 Carrington event, a disruptive solar storm so intense, that if it happened today, it could knock out electrical power and all modern forms of communications worldwide for many months, or even years. “If we had a storm like that today, it would be possibly quite
catastrophic,” says Jeffrey Love with the U.S. Geological Survey. “Months without electricity could cause losses of trillions of dollars and basically wreck the economy.” “Global catastrophe is basically right around the corner, setting the stage for NASA’s latest solar storm warning for 2012-2013.”

“…Most power grids have no built-in protection against the onslaught of a powerful geomagnetic storm. Since large transformers are grounded to the Earth, geomagnetic storms can induce currents that could cause them to overheat, catch fire, or explode. The damage could be catastrophic. According to John Kappenman of Storm Analysis Consultants, who studies the impact of space weather on the electrical grid, a solar storm like one that took place in May 1921, would today turn out the lights over half of North America. One on the order of the 1859 event could take out the entire grid, sending hundreds of millions of people back to a pre-electric way of life for weeks or perhaps months on end.”  Timothy Ferris in the June 2012 issue of National Geographic

We are playing Russian roulette with the sun, which periodically points a loaded
gun at us.
Steps to minimize the effects of a solar Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) or a possible high altitude nuclear explosion, which could cause an Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) from a potential enemy such as North Korea or Iran, are long overdue. The mortal threat is very real. Many millions of lives may depend on wise, rapid, effective, action!Ironically, what needs to be done has the positive potential to catalyze much stronger economic growth and substantial job generation!

4 million lost power in the recent storm – 6 million in the Quebec blackout. More than 130 million could suffer long-term, life-threatening, blackouts in the USA. Grid collapse is also possible in Europe, China, India, and Japan, as well as much of the remainder of the planet.

N.Y., Washington, Boston, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and other heavily populated communities could be in great danger. The threat to major cities and large populations exists worldwide.

The biggest problem is CME induced destruction of huge electrical transformers that take years to replace. The loss of those transformers and the long time required to restore them could black out large areas of our nation, and many others, for extremely long periods. 5,500 of these transformers exist in the USA.  350 of them are critical.  More than 20,000 such transformers may exist worldwide. Breakthrough technology will be in mass production early next year that might protect them all. Installing it worldwide could provide a great many jobs.

The cost of mobilizing production, when World War Two began, is accepted as the fact that ended the Great Depression. A parallel mobilization to protect the grid and save lives could quickly end the current slump.

Defending 20,000 transformers may cost $15 Billion. The one million solar roof program in California has a cost of $2 Billion. Installing solar roofs, as fast as possible, as widely as possible, might set an initial goal of 50 million roofs at a cost of $100 Billion. A program to accelerate validation and production of revolutionary energy innovations that could prove practical might cost an initial $5 Billion – and require several Billions more as installations proceed. Most of this money can be generated in the private sector! Wisely done, this may be the missing step to restoring the economy and generating many millions of new jobs.

The worst effects might be stopped by a substantial 24/7 effort – similar to the optimum response necessary to counter a potentially massive military attack on the entire earth.

Preventing this nightmare will take courage and wisdom. The price of continuing to ignore
it could prove beyond measure!

Survival of millions, and numerous nations, very possibly including our own, may depend on safeguarding critical grids, providing sufficient standby power to nuclear plants, and decentralizing energy production. Around-the-clock, emergency action, is needed now!

This almost unimaginable tragedy might be prevented if we quickly install the newly developed technology to protect the grid, and parallel that effort to safeguard nuclear facilities.

A 24/7 simultaneous effort should be made to decentralize electric power generation, in order to minimize dependency on power grids, as fast as is humanly possible.

In the event one of the powerful solar emissions that may strike in this decade collapses the power grid, nuclear plants and many other nuclear installations are in danger of life-threatening meltdowns. Few can survive beyond two weeks without network power,

Far worse than any terror attack, the entire world is totally unprepared for such an event.

At least 73 operating nuclear plants, as well as waste at deactivated nuclear facilities in the USA, are at direct risk from a solar megastorm. They could be without grid electricity necessary for cooling the fuel pools. Imagine numerous meltdowns in this country. In addition to the 433 nuclear plants worldwide, another 62 are being built, with 156 more due by 2020, and another 343 by 2025. China and India will account for 260 of these.

Without including probable nuclear plant meltdowns,NASA estimated the cost in the USA could reach $2 Trillion the first year, with up to 10 years required for recovery. The ignored nuclear dimension makes recovery uncertain.

NOAA Assistant Secretary Kathryn Sullivan says countries should prepare for “potentially devastating effects.” Sullivan, a former NASA astronaut who in 1984 became the first woman to walk in space, said in Geneva that “it is not a question of if, but really a matter of when a major solar event could hit our planet.”

“Widespread disruption of electric service can quickly … endanger millions.” Joseph McClelland Director,
Reliability, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

This is a little publicized multi-trillion dollar, planet wide nightmare!  Swift, strong, preventative steps might minimize the damage.

We cannot allow a Solar Megastorm (or an EMP attack) to cause numerous Fukushimas!

Cheap green electricity to supersede fossil fuels is in the birth canal – development and production might be sharply accelerated.

BlackLight Power has announced independent validation of their extremely inexpensive electric power producing technology by six laboratories. Now it needs to prove scalable, if it is to become practical.

$50 per barrel diesel, created from sunlight, water, CO2 and bacteria, is in pilot plant production today!  Hydroelectric, water fueled, seemingly impossible, fuel cells may be in production in Vietnam this summer.

Several companies are prototyping LENR generators that will provide heat, and later electricity, from a miniscule amount of Nickel powder and a tiny amount of Hydrogen.

These and other surprising positive Black Swans – highly improbable energy innovations with enormous potential implications – are being born. Keep abreast of updates at CHEAP GREEN and MOVING BEYOND OIL, on this website, to learn more.

Unless quickly prevented by sensible action, a solar megastorm can cause this nightmare to occur at a very large number of nuclear plants and other nuclear facilities. An X class solar emission is headed for us as I write these words. There were huge solar flares in several recent months. A strong geomagnetic storm and severe solar flares were experienced in January, March, and also a week ago. A flare last June covered half of the sun. The potential for a catastrophic event is present now. Wise steps to minimize the damage can stimulate broad support for decentralized energy production and emerging cheap green electricity.

The entire planet is presently unprepared for a severe potential emergency. External threats serve to unite. The world faces an unrecognized nuclear peril! Once acknowledged, uniting to confront it can generate the
missing popular and government support necessary to generate millions of jobs and rapidly revitalize the global economy.

An expert’s nightmare scenario shows Iran or its terrorist proxy, Hezbollah, parking an unmarked freighter off America’s East Coast or in the Gulf of Mexico. They would fire a nuclear-tipped scud above a city like New York, then immediately sink the freighter to destroy evidence of their handiwork”.

Former CIA double agent Reza Kahlili spent time as a member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. He said the Iranians have conducted missiles tests off ships in the Caspian Sea consistent with an EMP attack. CBN News.

A British MP recently warned the threat from a solar flare, or a nuclear weapon being exploded in space, is serious and the government far too complacent about the risks. He sees the probability of small numbers of nuclear weapons causing devastating damage. Cities would become unlivable without water and sewage in just a couple of days. He asked the government to: “address these issues with more energy and cohesion and focus, sooner rather than later.”

In the USA: “Communications would collapse, transportation would halt, electric power would simply be nonexistent.” “Not even a global humanitarian effort would be enough to keep hundreds of millions of Americans from death by starvation, exposure, or lack of medicine.”

Iranian military handbooks point out the benefits of such an attack.Russia, China, and North Korea also possess EMP
“A single nuclear weapon will cause the collapse of the electric power grid, all the critical infrastructures and other electronic systems across the entire continental United States and basically cause a permanent blackout”.

A 2008 congressional study, largely ignored, was entitled the “Report of the Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP)
attack.” It pointed out that the U.S. is particularly vulnerable. See:  Pearl Harbor, Iran and North Korea  by Warren Kozak, in the Wall Street Journal, December 7, 2011.

Raymond J. Learsy:For an Effective U.S. Policy, Embargo Iran’s Oil to Halt Its Nuclear Ambitions.  In HuffPost, 12-22-11.  Learsy suggested improving a strategy, similar to what now appears to be taking place, for a practical path to a non-nuclear Iran without the need to fire a shot.

A NASA funded study by the National Academy of Sciences was titled Severe Space Weather Events—Understanding Societal and Economic Impacts. The resulting Report detailed what might happen in the event of a solar megastorm launching a powerful Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) that strikes our geomagnetic field. The study predicts blackouts that may last for months or even years. As the map a few pages above indicates, highly vulnerable areas include most of the Eastern, West coast, and Gulf coast, areas of the USA.

The NOAA estimates each 11 year sunspot cycle is capable of launching 4 “extreme” (X class) CMEs and 100 “severe” CMEs at the earth. Several more X class events than were anticipated have already occurred in the current cycle. The most dangerous period is the next 5 years.NOAA states the peak peril might occur during May, 2013. NASA suggests the peak may include 2014.

So far,
neither NASA nor NOAA have publicly acknowledged the mortal threat these events may cause as the result of multiple meltdowns of nuclear plants worldwide. To date, there is little indication that the White House, Congress, Homeland Security, the Department of Defense and/or the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, have anywhere near adequately prepared to prevent the life-threatening potential impacts of a solar megastorm.

Such an event could resemble the aftermath of a nuclear weapons exchange had there been war between the USA and the USSR – massive amounts of radioactivity carried on prevailing winds all over the planet. The issue is not the specific year. We have been extremely lucky to date. From now on, every entire 11 year sunspot cycle must be of great concern.

Congress can reintroduce the GRID RELIABILITY AND INFRASTRUCTURE DEFENSE ACT, HR 5026, as unanimously
passed by the House, and also pass the SHIELD Act, HR 668 without delay!

Another Near-Term Threat to Humanity:The Fuel Pools of Fukushima – this emergency threatens all of us!

Fukushima Fuel Pool Number 4.The biggest threat following the Japanese earthquake was from the spent fuel rods in the fuel pools in the badly damaged reactor building above.“People don’t realize that the Fukushima reactor is on a knife’s edge. It’s near the tipping point. A small earthquake, another pipe break, another explosion, could tip it over and we could have a disaster much worse, many times worse than Chernobyl. It’s like a sleeping dragon.”  Dr. Micio Kaku  City University of New York

Japanese scientists say that there is a 70% chance of a magnitude 7.0 earthquake hitting Fukushima within a year, and a 98% chance within the next 3 years. On May 26th the Japanese government denied any danger. However, nuclear expert Arnie Gundersen says that an earthquake of 7.0 or larger could cause the entire fuel pool structure to collapse, it is urgent that everything humanly possible is done on an emergency basis to stabilize the structures housing the fuel pools at reactors number 3 and 4. New structures built to surround the old and the fuel quickly relocated! Removing fuel to casks must have an equally high priority!  Delay is extremely perilous!

“if seal leaks at Unit No. 4 — “You can never pump enough water in” Chris Harris, engineer: “If you lose the seal… that gasket… all the cooling water will go right down to the containment vessel… In other words, you’re done. That’s it”.

The fuel is 100 feet in the air. If the pool’s floor falls out, or the entire Unit 4 reactor building collapses, the cooling water supply will drain away, and the radioactive waste could catch on fire. Up to 100% of the volatile Cs-137 would then be discharged directly to the environment in the fire and smoke, as the pool lacks any radiological containment whatsoever. “There’s enough fuel in pool #4, almost as much Cesium as in all of the 800 atom bombs that were ever dropped into the atmosphere. …It could very easily cut Japan in half.” (Arnie Gunderson April 18th, 2012)

The problem is being attacked much too slowly. Gunderson states the best bet is to use cranes to move fuel to the ground a few pieces at a time. This is not being
done at present.Gundersen, who used to build spent fuel pools, explains that there is no protection surrounding the radioactive fuel in the pools. He warns that – if the fuel pools at reactor 3 and 4 collapse due to an earthquake – people should get out of Japan, and residents of the West Coast of America and Canada should shut all of their windows and stay inside.

The Administration and Congress must do much more to aid the emergency effort. Senator Ron Wyden, the senior Democratic senator on the Senate Energy committee, toured the Fukushima plant April 6, and said the damage was far worse than he expected and he was most worried about spent fuel rods stored in the damaged pools. He urged the Japanese government to accept international help to prevent
further release of the radioactive material should another earthquake occur.

Call the White House at (202) 456-1111. Then urge your U.S. Senators and Representative thru the switchboard at (202) 224-3121 to support Sen. Wyden’s initiative. It is little recognized that hundreds of millions of lives, and the entire United States, are needlessly at mortal risk.

Chris Canine, Chemist and Radiation Safety Instructor and former Fukushima Daiichi Worker: ‘I believe the country (Japan) will be evacuated if No. 4 fuel pool collapses’ — ‘Should be hundreds or thousands of people working furiously every day’.

Fukushima Denial/Awareness
OpEd News  May 28, 2012  By Carol Wolman, MD, psychiatry

We have a choice. We can deny the imminent threat posed by the damaged Fukushima reactors, or we can unite and work together to demand that all possible measures be taken, as quickly as possible, to defuse the danger.

Fukushima is the nuclear power complex that was hit by the earthquake and tsunami last March. Like most people, I assumed the damage was immediate, not too serious in terms of consequences, and well contained.

U.S. Senator Wyden (D- OR) took the trouble to tour the crippled plant this past April, and was alarmed. He found the damage much worse than he expected, and was especially concerned about the spent fuel rods from reactor #4 sitting in a pool 100 feet above the ground, open to the elements, in an unstable building, in an active earthquake zone.

Since his press release, reports and rumors have been flying around the internet. Some scenarios are pretty dire: an earthquake could topple the spent fuel pool, spilling out the water which keeps the rods cool, leading to an unquenchable fire which would spew out 9 times as much radiation as Chernobyl. Or reactor #2, which has a low level of water and some hydrogen buildup, could explode, again releasing huge amounts of radiation. Either of these scenarios could wipe
out life in the Northern hemisphere, or on the entire planet, according to Arne Gunderson, a nuclear engineer who supervised the Three Mile Island cleanup. Many others are issuing similar warnings.

On the other hand, there are reassurances coming out of Japan and the World Health Organization that the amount of radiation released so far isn’t dangerous to health, and that all the reactors and spent fuel pools at Fukushima are under control and stable.

What to believe? How worried should we be? Here in California, we are directly in the path of winds and ocean currents coming from Japan. Information about the state of the reactors and the level of radiation in various places has been hard to come by. For that reason, I’ve launched a petition at asking
Senators Boxer and Feinstein to investigate.

The Fukushima complex is owned by the Tokyo Electric Energy Company- TEPCO, which has known associations with the Japanese underworld. TEPCO has conducted few inspections of the facility, and is refusing to allow outsiders to inspect. The plant was recently nationalized by the Japanese government, and has
been toured by several ministers, who say that the cleanup is good as far as it goes, but always hedge in some way. We can hope for more transparency
and more vigorous efforts to take care of the multiple dangers that are ongoing as the government takes charge.

…Unlike an earthquake or tsunami, which wreaks havoc and then is finished and done with, a damaged nuclear facility is like a wounded beast- exceedingly dangerous and hard to control. The aftereffects can last for thousands, even millions of years. But unlike earthquakes and floods, radiation cannot be seen, heard, smelled, or experienced directly. The effects of cancer, sterility, birth defects, etc. often don’t occur until years later. Without an immediate and
tangible threat, it’s easy to push the menace of Fukushima out of our consciousness.

We’ve lived with thermonuclear weapons… We don’t pay attention to the radioactive dust emitting deadly alpha particles now blowing around the planet from the use of “depleted” uranium weaponry. Similarly, we’ve embraced nuclear energy, ignoring the omnipresent problem of spent nuclear fuel, for which no good means of disposal has yet been found.

There is enormous, but deeply buried fear associated with nuclear disaster. It affects the very stuff of life, the DNA, the basic genetic code for all living beings-
animal, vegetable, bacterial. We all have the image of a mushroom cloud tucked away deep in our brain, with lots of rationalizations for ignoring it, and living as if the threat of annihilation was not ever-present. There is deep despair, psychic numbing, a sense of great helplessness and inability to affect the situation. The science is intimidating, the governments and agencies involved seem out of reach, the media is untrustworthy. So the general public uses the strategy of ignoring the problem.

What can we do to empower ourselves and deal realistically with the ongoing threat posed by the Fukushima nuclear disaster?

First, we must look at the urgency. …Secondly, we must mobilize public support to force this quick change. The Japanese government seems more intent on reassuring people than on accelerating the cleanup. This is understandable, given the enormous expense required- estimated at $500 Billion dollars. Japan should ask for international assistance, especially since the entire planet would be affected by another explosion at Fukushima. This step has not been taken,
and international pressure is required to bring it about.

Nuclear disaster affects everyone- the 1% as well as the 99%. It does not discriminate on the basis of skin color, religion, political affiliation, neighborhood, sexual orientation, or any of the other variables which tend to divide people. Unlike the threat of nuclear war, the Fukushima situation is nonpartisan, so that
national loyalties and ideologies don’t come into play. This should make it easy for people to unite around the threat from the damaged reactors.

What’s needed is for people to overcome denial and become aware. I recommend several measures:

  1. A simple Geiger counter can be had for under $100. The ability to detect increases in radiation oneself rather than relying on biased government or industry sources is empowering. Every neighborhood should have one.
  2. Information IS available, if one searches for it. is the best website I’ve found for comprehensive, up to the minute news about Fukushima.
  3. We need to make the situation at Fukushima a priority. There are so many issues demanding our attention these days- ecological, humanitarian, political – that it’s hard to put one ahead of the rest. But the level of threat to all living beings posed by the instability at Fukushima is equivalent to a
forest fire almost out of control- it must be attended to, NOW.
  4. We need to overcome the social taboo against discussing nuclear threats, and express our concerns- to our family, friends, neighbors, political
  5. We need to get together and organize to put pressure on the U.S. government, to pressure the Japanese government, to allow outside supervision and assistance. Meetups, town meetings, other events would be helpful.
  6. An independent, watchdog group is essential, to monitor the cleanup and to put out warnings if more problems arise. We need to to make this happen. My petition is addressed to the California senators, since California will be heavily affected by any new disaster at Fukushima. Pressure from the U.S. may
be the best way to force Japan to bring in international monitoring and assistance.

We have a choice. We can deny the threat posed by the damaged reactors, or we can unite and work together to demand that all possible measures be taken, as quickly as possible, to defuse the danger. Daiichi #4 Spell the End?

Fukushima Daiichi Site: Cesium-137 is 85 Times Greater Than at Chernobyl

NOTE: The entire article this is taken from can be found on this website.

Ambassador Mitsuhei Murata strongly stated that if the crippled building of reactor unit 4 collapses, not only will it cause a shutdown of all six reactors but will also affect the common spent fuel pool containing 6,375 fuel rods. The radioactive rods
are not protected by containment: dangerously, they are open to the air. This would certainly cause a global catastrophe unlike we have never before experienced.

Such a catastrophe would affect us all for centuries. Ambassador Murata informed us that the total numbers of the spent fuel rods at the Fukushima Daiichi site excluding the rods in the pressure vessel is 11,421.

It is no exaggeration to say that the fate of Japan and the whole world depends on #3 and #4 reactors. This is confirmed by most reliable experts like Dr. Arnie Gundersen or Dr. Fumiaki Koide.

They contain roughly 85 times the amount of Cs-137 released at the Chernobyl accident. The total spent reactor fuel inventory at the Fukushima-Daiichi site contains nearly half of the total amount of Cs-137 estimated by the NCRP to have been released by all atmospheric nuclear weapons testing, Chernobyl, and world-wide reprocessing plants.

What 85 times more Cesium-137 than Chernobyl would mean. It would destroy the world environment and our civilization. This is not rocket science, nor does it connect to the pugilistic debate over nuclear power plants. This is an issue of human survival.

 aurora borealis

The Aurora from a recent solar storm as viewed from space.

The lights are more unusual in color, magnitude, and in scope because of the high atomic weight Fukushima Fallout in the atmosphere. Post Fukushima such lights are no longer a treat. In fact they are the harbingers of the creation of a whole new witches’ brew of radioactive Fukushima related fallout.  It is a harbinger that grows more concerning as these Solar Storms are simultaneously increasing in magnitude…  The recent CME interacted with high atomic weight fallout (both radioactive and NON-radioactive) in the upper atmosphere and produced new radioactive fallout via nuclear spallation processes. Radioactive iodine is being reported in the USA and Europe. Evidence of Plutonium 239 spallation is expected. 2 Feb 2012   Links don’t function here – type the URL into your

ALERT! Solar Proton Spallation Event Watch
Posted: 06 Jul 2012 10:26 PM PDT

A strong Solar  X-class flare on 7/6/12 may result in a large Earthly proton bombardment. Under the right conditions, these protons could impact airborne Fukushima fallout and produce a veritable witch’s brew of radioactive iodines and other spallation products.

Typically when these events happen, the effects are first reported in the Nordic countries as radioiodine detections of indeterminate origins. We suspect that the recent upswing in Fukushima fallout may result in unusual phenomena tied to this X -class flare.

If you thought the HOT PARTICLES falling on Seattle were bad…

“Experts” are starting to get a glimpse into how little they know about the witches’ brew coming out of Fukushima. A recent revelation is that Fukushima Uranium is forming Bucky Balls via the action of salt water.

The picture above is a Carbon “Bucky Ball”. So what is so bad about Radioactive Uranium Bucky balls?  Well, picture someone throwing very fine, non caking, radioactive “talcum powder” into the air; that in essence is the outcome of this finding.

But it gets worse, imagine that radioactive   “talcum powder” behaving and dispersing the exact same way when thrown into the water.

But it gets worse, notice in the picture above that the Bucky Ball is actually a cage, now picture plutonium atoms trapped inside that cage.

But it gets worse, now picture how much greater a target these Bucky Balls are for spallation in the upper atmosphere.

What this finding means is that ALL the dispersion models are wrong, and NOT in the good way. It also means that the internal impact and damage from inhaling or consuming these particles is far greater than would otherwise be expected. However, don’t expect the “it’s safe” mantra to change. Fukushima had happened in the U.S., we would evacuate out to 50 miles, said NRC’s Bill Borchardt. “That would be our evacuation recommendation.” In fact, in the U.S., more than four million Americans live within 10 miles of the 63 sites of nuclear power plants with at least one operating reactor, according to data compiled by the NRC based on the 2000 census. That number swells when the radius extends outward to 50 miles to affect more than 180 million Americans, and includes major metropolitan areas such as New York City, Philadelphia, San Diego and even West Palm Beach, Fla.

A wise and imaginative American initiative would speed decentralized energy, increasingly capable of competing with, and replacing, fossil and nuclear fuels.

Emerging CHEAP GREEN power will be cost-competitive, forcing a permanent reduction in the price of fossil fuels.

That can be expected to dramatically cut back the need for oil and gas and supersede the emotionally charged arguments concerning global warming.
